Strictly judge Craig's awkward response as Pete Wicks mocks 'rule-break' in jibe

Strictly Come Dancing 2024 hopeful Pete Wicks joked about judge Craig Revel Horwood's comment last week after an 'illegal' dance move, but not everyone was amused

A joke on Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night fell a little bit flat, as not everyone was amused when Pete Wicks mocked his dancefloor drama from the week before.

The TOWIE star embraced Halloween week with his pro dance partner Jowita Przystał on Saturday, a week on from being accused of an "illegal" dance move. Pete has since addressed this after judge Craig Revel Horwood said his and Jowita's Rumba contained moves that would leave a professional dancer "disqualified".

While he backed Jowita and defended the "illegal" moves a few days ago, on Saturday night he brought it up once more. But he didn't get the reaction from the judges he was probably hoping for, as he remarked about the complaint in jest.

While he made a light-hearted quip about being "arrested" for his "illegal" moves the week before, things got awkward when Craig didn't look all that impressed. He wasn't the only one though as the camera panned to all of the judges, and none of them laughed or so much as smirked.

Host Tess Daly quickly changed the conversation as she joked about "no more rule-breaking", before asking the judges for their feedback after the latest routine. There was no hard feelings though, as the judges including Craig gave the pair plenty of positive feedback about their latest performance.

Pete had quipped, after he took on The Joker for his latest performance: "If you wonder why I'm in jail, it's because last week I did something illegal so I got arrested for that." The camera zoomed in on Craig who simply stared awkwardly at Pete, not responding to the slight jibe after he'd called him out the week before.

Speaking to the pair last week, Craig had claimed: "And as for the lifts, that is totally illegal." He explained: "There were two lifts. One foot should remain on the floor at all times.

"Of course, a professional would be marked down for that. I think even a disqualification darling, because I think you should follow the rules." But Pete hit back at this a few days later on It Takes Two, saying: "I've never been one to follow the rules! Do I look like the sort of geezer who plays by the rules?"

He went on: "I don’t think [Jowita] should get any blame for that, as far as I’m concerned that’s the dance so far that I have enjoyed the most, surprisingly. Because I felt I was just dancing as me rather than just trying to remember steps and that’s the first time I have done that, just going with it… that’s why we did it, because it felt right."
