Emmerdale fans 'solve' why Ruby's mum and daughter were in contact in sick twist

Emmerdale fans think they know a dark twist involving Ruby and Caleb Miligan's mystery daughter Stephanie on the ITV soap, as it was revealed she and Helen Fox were in contact

A new Emmerdale theory could explain why Ruby Miligan lost contact with her daughter Stephanie amid a twist.

Ruby was shocked this week when she found out that her estranged daughter Steph had been in contact with her late mother Helen Fox. Not only that, but after her recent death she'd left almost everything to her granddaughter, not Ruby.

Viewers only know that they are not in contact with daughter Steph, but while they don't know where she is they do have her number. Ruby has not spoken to Helen ever since Ruby's mum and dad kicked her out as a teenager over her pregnancy and her romance with Caleb.

It seems they have had some sort of interaction over the years, as Ruby commented about trying to keep Steph away from her parents. So when she found out her AWOL daughter had been in touch with Helen, while no details were given, she was horrified.

Now viewers think they know why Helen and Steph were in touch and why Helen asked about her granddaughter on her deathbed a few weeks ago. Not only that but the theory could explain why Steph fell out with Ruby and Caleb, and why there seems to be some drama with Caleb.

Viewers believe in a sickening twist, Steph's real father could have been Ruby's own dad. As others speculated Caleb was not Steph's biological dad, some fans couldn't help question if the reason Ruby fled her parents was because she was abused by her father, who her mother divorced later on.

Sharing the theory, one fan posted: "I reckon Steph is Ruby's father's [child]." Another shared: "I was thinking the same," as a third commented: "I don't think Steph is Caleb's, there's something much deeper going on there."

Other viewers wondered if Steph and her parents were on bad terms because she may have been adopted as a child. A theory suggested Ruby was young when she gave birth to Steph, and may have had her adopted before regaining contact later on - leading to some upset from Steph.

It's not known how Helen would have even got into contact with Steph given her and Ruby apparently didn't talk for years, right up until her recent death. Ruby said: "It's not a shock it's not... I don't get it. Does this mean they were meeting behind my back?"

As the solicitor asked if Steph was their eldest child, Ruby said: "I did everything to keep them apart. I didn't want any of my mum's poison rubbing off on her. It's all gone to Steph. She left her everything. I don't understand, how long did she know? She wanted me to hold the estate in trust, pay all the bills and make sure everything else goes to Stephanie."

Ruby, shaking, went on: "She must have wanted to make sure I knew she knew." As Caleb asked: "About what?" she replied: "About Steph, but why? What is this some kind of weird apology? Her way of saying sorry? Or some kind of attack beyond the grave?"
