Comedian Alan Carr's ex-husband Paul Drayton has shared with fans that he is to reunite with the TV presenter as they are putting their beloved dog Joyce to sleep.

The Chatty Man star married Paul in 2018 but the couple split in 2022. Taking to Instagram, Paul posted a throwback image of their dog and explained that Joyce is suffering from a heart condition and the couple are doing their "last act of kindness."

He captioned the heart-breaking snap: "Her heart is failing. Ours are breaking! 4.30 tomorrow me and Alan are doing our last act of kindness and letting her go. Thank you for all your lovely messages." In another picture, Joyce is seen sat on Alan's lap during a flight and Paul captioned that picture saying: "This is my favorite photo of Joyce. In 2014 we flew them to France and she was looking out the window thinking wtf is going on now!"

This is the second time the former couple have had to say goodbye to one of their paw babies. Back in 2022, Bev passed away, months after the couple announced their split. While the pair will be left inconsolable once they put their dog Joyce to sleep, Alan is said to be eagerly waiting the publication of a tell-all memoir by Paul.

It is believed that Paul will be setting the record straight about his drink-drive arrest, which reportedly was part of the reason their marriage fell apart. After a 13 year relationship, the couple called time on their romance. It is no secret that Paul has battled with alcohol and was nearly sent to jail after reversing into a police car with a high alcohol test reading, in 2022.

Alan claimed Paul's abuse of alcohol was the "final straw" in an already strained relationship. Paul is now tee-total. A source told the MailOnline: "Alan knows that Paul is writing a book and obviously their relationship –the good, the bad and the ugly – will form a large part of the story. They were together for 13 years and had some fabulous times together as well as the well-documented problems." They added: "Paul is a very honest man and will give readers a warts and all picture of his life and won’t gloss over difficult subjects."

It has now been three years since Paul gave up drinking following his arrest. Sharing the footage of his arrest, he captioned the clip: "Three years ago today I was arrested handcuffed and taken to Crawley police station. This is short edited clip of that day. (I still get anxiety watching this). What followed was a catalogue of events that was nothing short of a nightmare! The officer said I was off my face and that I had reversed my car into his. Both were untrue! I was a broken man on that day!" He continued: "I was advised to plead not guilty in order for my Lawyer to do a full investigation to gather all the mitigating evidence together. I felt like I was drowning. On the 26th December 2022 the judge decided to sentence me to 12 weeks in a class B prison!"

He added: "I had just had 2 brain surgeries, was going through a divorce and moving house to name a few of the things I was coping with! I was also three weeks into rehab! I have taken full responsibility for my actions and believe me when I say that whole period in my life was the lowest! It's taking a lot for me to rebuild myself and a huge journey of self discovery whilst not using alcohol to cope or self medicate as I had done in the past."

He then went on to say: "I am currently writing my memoirs which may be titled ''Take It On The Chin'' where you will read the full story along with many other stories of my eventful and colourful life! Thank you all for your continuing love and support! It means the world!!"

Speaking of his ex-husband's issues with alcohol, Alan previously said: "It's horrible when you realise how bad it's got. You're watching someone kill themselves. I wanted to leave him. It's the lies that get you – the, 'Oh I'll never drink again'." He added: "And then you go out, realise you've forgotten your car keys, go back and… [Paul would be drinking.] I couldn't cope, because when I left the house, I didn't know if he was going to have a fall, or put something on the hob and fall asleep. He was grey and shuffling around. It was like watching someone die."
