Who is Delia Balmer's partner David in Until I Kill You?
Delia Balmer found a trusting friendship with David, but her anxieties got the better of her in the end.
by Katie Palmer · The MirrorUntil I Kill You has been airing on ITV and the harrowing true crime drama tells the story of how Delia Balmer (played by Anna Maxwell-Martin) survived an attack by her axe-murderer boyfriend, John Sweeney (Shaun Evans).
Once Sweeney was in prison, Delia moved into a new house and she came across David, a taxi driver who lived close by.
He immediately took a shine to Delia and asked her whether she would have dinner at his home, an invitation Delia accepted.
The pair seemed to get on well, with David buying Delia a new bike and taking her on holiday, but the Sweeney trial continued to play out in the background.
Delia and David ended up arguing regularly as she struggled to move on from her traumatic past. Here is all we know about David.
Who plays David?
David is played by Kevin Doyle, a 64-year-old English actor best known for his role as Joseph Molesley in Downton Abbey.
Viewers may also recognise him from Happy Valley, in which he played Detective Sergeant John Wadsworth.
His other credits include The Lakes, Coronation Street and The Crimson Field.
He was born in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire and now lives in West Yorkshire with his partner Olwen May.
Is David based on a real person?
Viewers are keen to know whether Delia and David are still together, but it is not known whether David was based on a real-life partner of Delia's.
Until I Kill You: The Real Story will air after the series has concluded and it may shed some light on Delia's other relationships.
Delia, who still works as a therapeutic masseuse, did speak out ahead of the show's release but did not mention anyone else in her life.
She told ITV she still suffered with her mental health, adding: "I am a perfectionist but my life is opposite of perfect.
"I often suffer from depression and anxiety, afraid of life and afraid of the future, a compulsive worrier.
"When I look in the mirror I see a stranger. Certain physical pain, I will have for life. I am stuck. I cannot move on, and cannot go further. Fear holds me back from doing certain things."
Until I Kill You continues on ITV at 9pm
