Strictly's latest season is a 'never-ending conveyor belt of flings' reveals insider

An insider has said that the romance twists, involving a number of celebrities and professional dancers, support Strictly Come Dancing's reputation for its stars hooking up

The latest season of Strictly Come Dancing has been described as "a never-ending conveyor belt of relationships and flings" by an insider.

The comments emerged after rumours of a so-called "Love Hexagon" involving a number of celebrities including Maura Higgins, Pete Wicks, Kai Widdrington, Nadiya Bychkova, Jowita Przystał, and Giovanni Pernice. During the Pride of Britain Awards this week, Love Island star Maura, 33, was seen getting close to The Only Way Is Essex star Pete Wicks, with the pair sharing a kiss at the event.

However, it appears that Kai, 29, also caught her attention. Onlookers spotted the professional dancer, who broke up with Nadiya over the summer, placing his hand on Maura's arm and appeared to twirl her around.

But amid rumours of a romance between Pete and Maura, there are also reports that the TOWIE star has grown close to his Strictly dance partner Jowita, 30, on the show. Completing the "Love Hexagon", last year Jowita was linked to former Strictly winner Giovanni Pernice, who also dated Maura in 2021.

A Strictly insider told Mail Online that the latest romance twists only support the show's reputation for its stars hooking up. The source said: "Kai and Maura getting close while she's still got feelings for Pete, who is now infatuated with Jowita, just sums up Strictly right now. It's a never-ending conveyor belt of relationships and flings, which shows no sign of ending."

Nadiya and Kai dated for two years before splitting earlier this year. Asked about their break-up and if they were friends, Nadiya told us: "We work together but we are not friends and that's ok. One thing I can tell you is that when you see me dancing with him it will be amazing because I'm a professional."

Nadiya and Kai split in the summer, just six months after they had posed for photos in a glossy magazine shoot. In December 2023 Kai had said: "I just knew Nadiya was The One. She's the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, but the real beauty is not just what you see on the outside – it's the person on the inside I fell in love with.

"People often misjudge her and just see a stunning blonde girl, but she's more than that. She's the kindest person I've ever met in my entire life, and the most amazing mother."

Nadiya shares seven-year-old daughter Mila with her former fiancé, Slovenian footballer Matija Skarabot. Her relationship with Kai was her first romance since she split from the father of her child. In the magazine interview in December she said: "When you're a mum, you don't jump into a relationship saying: 'I'm in love,' and that's it. It's a big responsibility and I'm very protective of my daughter."
