Axed EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley shows off results of incredible weight-loss
Former EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley proudly showed off a trim figure on social media ahead of attending a glitzy mental health charity event in a flattering black dress
by Lucretia Munro · The MirrorIt has been a year since Lorraine Stanley's exit scene aired on EastEnders.
But twelve months on, it seems life away from Albert Square has worked wonders for the actress, 48, as she showed off her svelte figure after dropping an astonishing amount of weight. Lorraine played down-trodden Karen Taylor and was known for being opinionated. But now, after taking to Instagram, the star showcased a slim frame in a flattering black dress.
The actress was dressed up to attend a glitzy mental health charity event with her nephew. And her new look was not lost on fans who rushed to the comment section of her post, as one person said: "Look at you." Another fan wrote: "Where did you steal that body from."
A third added: "You look amazing Lorraine, how did you get so slim." After leaving the BBC soap, Lorraine revealed that she had adopted healthier lifestyle choices in order to lose weight and become a healthier version of herself. Back in March, she posted before and after pictures of herself and told her followers: "Five stone down, feeling good, clean living, healthy choices, new me, healthy mummy."
Following her exit, she claimed she did not plan to return to the soap, like some of her fellow actors including Patsy Palmer and Letitia Dean. Speaking to The Sun, she said: "Once you’ve done a soap, you’ve done a soap. At the moment I wouldn't go back, I'm happy doing what I'm doing. They've left the door open, so never say never. I made that special appearance and it was nice to see everyone and be apart of the family again."
Her departure went off with a bang as her character was involved in the iconic EastEnders Six storyline which saw her on-screen son Keanu killed by Linda, played by Kellie Bright. But since then, she told the publication that she had found it hard to land roles on the back of her exit.
She continued: "I'm a busy mum at the moment. I don't plan on doing anymore soaps, once you've done a soap, you've done a soap. At the moment I'm auditioning, I'm just doing self-tapes, which is soul-destroying. It's horrible, I'm so bad at it."
However, she has now landed a role in pantomime. She added: "I'm doing Panto in my hometown of Portsmouth, I'm playing Queen Rat, I've never done it before and I'm so excited. It's the only thing my daughter can actually watch, most times I swear, but actually my daughter Nancy can go and watch it and hopefully be proud of mummy." And she told fans: "I can't wait for this!!!! Panto in my home town with me old mate Jack Edwards is going to be epic!!! Ratty is coming to play Kings Theatre get your tickets early and I'll see you after the show."
