Harry Potter fans agree that a former actor in the Star Wars series would be perfect for the role of Professor Snape in new tv show.

In the eight movies, the late Alan Rickman played the Dark Arts teacher and was arguably perfect for the role. Now, Potterheads have shared their thoughts in a Reddit thread that asked "Who would you cast as Severus Snape in the upcoming Harry Potter reboot?"

The majority have said that Adam Driver is the perfect candidate for Severus Snape. Adam Driver is famous for playing Kylo Ren in Star Wars as well as featuring in Girls, The Last Duel and The Dead Don't Die.

In the comments, a Harry Potter fan said: "Still need to see Adam Driver as Snape," while another wrote: "Adam Driver 100%."

Another adamant fan said: "Adam driver. The only answer." While someone else said: "Adam driver has the exact look but are they doing Brits only again?"

Last year, it was confirmed that there would be a new Harry Potter series which would follow the famous wizard's journey over a 10 year run. Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO & Max Content, assured fans of a "faithful adaptation."

The cast is yet to be announced but last month, HBO put out a casting call for the new Harry, Ron and Hermione. The parts are only open to children from the UK who will be aged between 9 and 11 in April 2025.

Applicants will first need to prepare a short poem or story of their choosing that is a maximum of 30 seconds long. It can be from their favourite book, a poem they love, a monologue from a play or something they have created themselves - however it can't be anything from the Harry Potter series and actors will need to use their own accent.

They will then need to record a short one minute video telling the agency a bit about themselves, including their date of birth, height and where they live. In addition, they should describe any family member, friend or pet they are particularly close to.

The only way to apply for the casting call is via the Cast It website and applications must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian. The closing date for submissions for all three characters is October 31, 2024.
