Prince George shows his true colours on carriage ride with Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis

During a high-profile royal event, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis took a carriage ride together, and it seemed to show exactly how George feels about his younger siblings

Both Prince William and Princess Kate are seriously protective parents, who are keen to give their three children - Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, aged six - as much of a normal upbringing as possible, despite their royal status and George's destiny as second-in-line to the throne.

This means that royal fans only get treated to a glimpse of the Wales children on special occasions when their parents deem it appropriate to bring them along to a royal event. These are often some of the most high-profile royal engagements that the House of Windsor takes part in, like Trooping the Colour or Kate's annual Christmas carol service.

During an appearance at Trooping the Colour back in 2022 - which also marked the late Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee - the way that George behaved during a carriage ride with his siblings is reported to have shown the extent of his feelings towards his younger brother and sister.

As reported by US Weekly, George is "very protective" of Charlotte and Louis, and this was demonstrated during the rare public appearance. At the time, George was only eight years old - with Charlotte just seven and Louis four. The day saw the three siblings manage being under a lot of scrutiny and amongst large crowds remarkably well, and young Louis really stole the show during the Royal Family's balcony appearance, where they traditionally finish off the big day of military pageantry and precision by watching a flypast.

Louis memorably pulled faces and even covered his ears as the planes roared overhead, making his late great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth laugh and smile at his antics. US Weekly also reported that not only is George "very protective" of his younger siblings but also "goes out of his way to help his mother with the household chores, especially when it earns him extra time on electronics."

The Mirror has previously reported that Judi James, a body language expert, has also noted this protective side to George during one of the three Wales children's rare appearances in public. During a visit to church at Christmastime, the expert noted that George was "mirroring" his father Prince William, and acting as a "protector" to Louis.

"One of the sweetest and most poignant body language signals was the sight of George using touch, chat and bending rituals to signal he is now in the role of protector and 'keeping-an-eye-on' monitor for his younger brother Louis," the expert said. "As the family reached the church William put a hand out to touch George's back and leaned towards his elder son but George was already using those same rituals towards his small and rather playful brother. The gesture looked spontaneous, as though this is a role he is taking on a lot," Judi added.
