by Chiara Fiorillo · The MirrorAriana Grande has put on a loved-up display with her boyfriend Ethan Slater as the pair went Instagram official after facing criticism over their relationship.
The 31-year-old singer and her new partner made a red carpet debut at the premiere of their movie Wicked in Sydney, Australia. In the film, which is an adaptation of the Broadway play and is due to come out on November 24, Ariana plays Glinda the Good Witch, while Ethan, 32, plays the role of Boq.
On Tuesday, Ariana and Ethan seen posing for pictures in front of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. They were seen tenderly hugging, smiling and looking at each other while accompanied by their co-stars, including Jeff Goldblum, 72, Marissa Bode, 24, Jonathan Bailey, 36 and Cynthia Erivo, 37.
Ariana looked radiant in a custom-made pink Vivienne Westwood gown which she paired with white heels. She kept her hair pulled back in a gown and wore simple, nude make-up. Her boyfriend sported a casual look with blue trousers paired with a blue polo t-shirt.
The couple were pictured looking all loved-up, while other photos showed them with other members of the cast. During the Australia trip, the pair also went Instagram official, as Ariana shared a carousel of pictures from the premiere on Instagram.
One One picture specifically showed the back of Ariana and Ethan going down the stairs, making their relationship Instagram official. She captioned the post: "Sydney, you have stolen our hearts … @wickedmovie @cynthiaerivo."
The two started dating in 2023 after meeting when filming the movie adaptation of Wicked. However, their relationship received backlash after the two filed for divorce from their marriages. During the time of filming, Ariana was married to Dalton Gomez, and Ethan to his high school sweetheart Lilly Jay.
Ariana and Ethan filed for divorce from their respective spouses and later went public with their relationship. The two were then spotted at sporting events, out at dinner, and with their castmates. But Ariana has defended their relationship to the public.
In a Vanity Fair interview over the summer, she shared her thoughts about the public's reaction to their relationship. She said: "The most disappointing part was to see so many people believe the worst version of it. No one on this earth tries harder or spreads themselves thinner to be there for the people that he loves and cares about."
Last month, Ethan also broke his silence on their relationship. The former SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical star said during an interview with GQ: "I think there was something that was really difficult about things in your private life being commented on and looked at by the public
"It's really hard to see people who don't know anything about what's happening commenting on it and speculating, and then getting things wrong about the people you love." He added that there were "big changes" that went on in both his and Ariana's life at the time and the speculation online was "really hard."
Even though it was a tough year for the two, they stuck it out and Ethan couldn't be more proud of his beau. "I'm just really, really proud of Ari and the work she’s done on this," he said. "I'm really excited to be there for this next step of it when the world gets to see the amazing thing that she did."
