Strictly Come Dancing fans were shocked to learn about Gorka Marquez's role outside of the BBC dance competition.

Gorka is best known for being his loveable and talented self as a professional dancer on Strictly. The Spanish star was fifth to be eliminated from the competition with his celebrity dance partner Dr. Punam Krishan. When he's not dancing on the show, he's a judge on the Spanish version of the competition, Bailando Con Las Estrellas.

Viewers see a different side to him on it as he gets straight to the point with his criticism, with a star even storming off set after he gave them a low score of two. On an episode of It Takes Two, Kai Widdrington opened up about his pal's new role. He said: "Earlier this year, Spain relaunched Bailando Con Las Estrellas.

"It is hosted by Argentinian model Valeria Mazza and one of Spain's well-known presenters, Jesús Vázquez. There are not three, not four, but five judges, including Blanca Li, journalist and writer Boris Izaguire, director of musicals Julia Gomez Cora, Antonia Dell'ate, and the fifth judge, I think you may recognise - it's our very own Gorka Marquez."

Gorka opened up about one 'savage' moment from the show which saw him give Spanish star Athenea a score of two out of ten. The star and her partner walked off stage after receiving the low score and refused to be filmed. Thankfully, she returned for the second half of the show.

"Where do I start? I'm a little speechless, and not because it was good. It's more bad than good," Gorka told the star in Spanish. Viewers at home were shocked by his savage approach, with one user writing on X: "Gorka's a judge in Spain? Why did I not know that?”

Gorka talked about being on the show and gushed: "I absolutely love it, I learned a lot that I can take with me as a professional now and to help the celebrities. I know what the judges want to see." He revealed to fans that the biggest difference is the fact the show ran from 10pm to 2am.

He said: "It's much longer. It's on from 10pm to two in the morning. Then, when it comes to the couples, we don't know which order we'll dance in, so on the table there's an envelope, and she opens it and says, 'Next one will be.' Then, you have the time of the VT to get ready to dance. Then the other thing is the way they score."
