Trevor Sorbie was a hairdresser to the rich and famous, but the last thing he wanted was his celebrity clients lining up at his funeral.

The British celebrity hairdresser, who has appeared on ITV's This Morning to give hair care advice, has sadly died at the age of 75 after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. An emotional statement shared on his social media confirmed the news today.

It comes just weeks after he revealed he was near the end of his life. Trevor was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2019 and revealed in October this year that the disease had spread and he had been given weeks to live. In a touching interview shortly before his death, he spoke about his final wishes.

The beloved hairdresser made the bold decision to stop chemotherapy - because he couldn't face any more of "that poison" - and instead chose to live every day enjoying his favourite things, including watching films and eating pizza with his wife, Carol. Trevor lightheartedly told The Times earlier this month: "I never knew dying could be this much fun."

He shared how he intended to die at home, not in a hospital, and his strong wishes to not have a funeral. Revealing why he came to that decision, he said: "Too upsetting. When the time comes my ashes will be interred with Carol's and our little dog."

Speaking bravely about his journey with cancer, Trevor added: "If the cancer reaches my brain, then I'll accept it, but until then, I'm in charge, and I'm going on my terms." The star passed away with his loved ones and beloved pet dog by his side on Friday.

Trevor's team confirmed that he had tragically died following his brave fight against the disease. An emotional post on his Instagram page reads: "It is with heartfelt emotion that we share the passing of our esteemed founder, Trevor Sorbie MBE. Trevor passed away peacefully with his family and beloved dog by his side.

"Trevor's journey, marked by unparalleled creativity and kindness, has left an indelible mark on the world of hairdressing and beyond. From pioneering The Wedge five decades ago to establishing our first salon in 1979, Trevor's vision set new standards and continues to inspire generations. As we commemorate 45 years of Trevor Sorbie salons, we remain steadfast in upholding the passion, artistry, and dedication that he embodied.

"Trevor often reminded us to 'Be bold, be different, but always do everything in good taste'. His ethos of kindness, care, and excellence continues to guide us. He expressed immense pride in our team and confidence in our commitment to carrying forward his legacy. Honouring Trevor's wishes, there will be no funeral.

"In lieu of flowers, we invite you to support four charities: Marie Curie, Cancer Research UK, Rowans Hospice and My New Hair, all close to his heart. We also plan to celebrate his remarkable life and contributions with a special event next year and will share details in due course. Thank you for being an integral part of our community and for your continued support as we honour Trevor's legacy. With gratitude, The Trevor Sorbie Team."
