A former assistant of TV fashion icons Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine has revealed she used to work for a handful of cash and performed tasks in her underwear while working for the stars.

Rosie Green is now a columnist at Hello magazine - but one of her early jobs was working for 60-year-old Trinny and 62-year-old Susannah. The TV duo enjoyed huge fame at the beginning of the 2000s with their show What Not to Wear which they hosted from 2001 until 2005.

Rosie first met the pair in the late 1990s when working at Elle magazine and was shocked when the ladies asked her to work with them while they were employed by the Telegraph as fashion expert columnists. Now Rosie has been delving into her past to share highlights and moments of working with the star duo.

While recounting her time as their assistant, the journalist has revealed the shockingly low sum of money that she earned while working for the pair - and has shared some of the work conditions she endured. Admitting she looks up to the fashion heroes, she says we can all still learn from Trinny and Susannah.

Writing for Hello!, Rosie revealed: "For the daily sum of £50, I called in clothes, walked their rescue dogs and fielded phone calls from PRs whose brands they had been ruthlessly honest about. My time with them taught me so much. They might have come from privilege, but they were not snobs. They worked very hard, were open to new ideas, and were unfailingly honest - about themselves and others."

In a titillating anecdote, the fashion writer added: "Whilst I have lots of funny stories (when it was hot we would work in our underwear to the surprise of the postman!) they were seriously committed to making women feel more visible and valuable."

Noting that Trinny now runs a successful make-up brand, called Trinny London which is valued at $250 million (£192 million), Rosie says the TV star is a trailblazer that all can look up to. She declared: "Trinny started her makeup brand in her fifties. She's often talked about the ageism she faced when trying to raise funds for it, but she's shown us all that with determination, you can achieve success whatever the number of candles on your cake."

While Trinny and Susannah walked away from What Not To Wear almost 20 years ago, they have continued to appear on TV in the decades since. Fans of Daytime TV will be well aware that Trinny often pops up on ITV to share fashion tips and advice on This Morning and on the BBC's morning Breakfast show. While Susannah tried her luck on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 - but was the first star of that season to be booted off the show alongside her dance professional partner Anton Du Beke.
