BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Tasha Ghouri admits 'rough' week and 'emotional' moment viewers didn't see

Tasha Ghouri has told how she was left questioning whether she should still be in Strictly Come Dancing after an "emotional" moment behind-the-scenes that viewers didn't see.

The former Love Island contestant is a stand-out star of the BBC One dance contest this year as she continues to impress the judges alongside her professional dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec.

The pair became the first couple to score 10s during the 2024 series earlier this month when they were awarded a near-perfect 39 out of a possible 40 points for their Charleston to Unhealthy by Ann-Marie and Shania Twain.

They went on to make it through to week five of the BBC One dance contest, which took place last Saturday night (October 19) and were seen performing a Tango to Dog Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine.

At the time she said she found it difficult to find the "tango energy" as she and Aljaz were given 34 points for their routine. But despite the impressive score, she got some critique and words of advice from the judges.

Head judge Shirley Ballas told Tasha that she believes she will improve but warned "consistency is key" to success on Strictly, and called some of her steps "loosey-goosey and wobbly", while Anton Du Beke told her that "for perfection" she needs to do better.

However, the 26-year-old has now revealed that despite her high score the weekend before, she began to doubt herself after receiving backlash online due to her commercial dance experience. Speaking to Fleur East on Strictly's It Takes Two on Tuesday (October 22), Tasha said that she questioned whether she "deserved" to be in the competition.

"I'll be honest, I think I had quite a rough week last week emotionally," she said. "Emotionally, I think there was a lot of noise that happened after we did Charleston, and there was kind of a lot of people saying a lot of different things, and I started to feel like, 'Do I even deserve to be here?'

"There was a point where I did start to feel like that, and there was a point where actually in rehearsals had a really good chat and a good heart to heart. Aljaž was really there for me, picked me up said, 'Look, you do deserve to be here, you've got this. We're in this together.'

"So I kind of let that noise cloud my head a little bit in rehearsals and eventually I thought, 'You know what? I'm here for myself, I'm here to make my friend's family proud and take on this experience.' So I'm going in with a positive attitude. I'm not gonna let it get to me and work harder this week."

It was then confirmed that Tasha will be tackling Halloween Week with Aljaz by dancing the Samba to Reel 2 Real's I Like To Move It Move It.
