by · Manchester Evening News

Married at First Sight has made a return to our TV screens for its ninth series with a bunch of brand-new singletons ready to tie the knot to a complete stranger.

As usual the series will feature love and romance as well as plenty of drama, as couples prepare to say 'I do’. Over the weeks, they'll also move in together and get to know each other at the dramatic dinner parties before reuniting at commitment ceremonies.

Among the grooms hoping to find love is Ross McCarthy, who has been in three serious relationships in the past and is now putting his faith in experts Paul C Brunson and Mel Schilling.

The painter and decorator from Manchester, is the first deaf groom to take part in the Channel 4 show. Ross was born without hearing, he wears two hearing aids, but has never let this define who he is and what he wants to do in life.

The 32-year-old played for Everton Deaf Football Club and during this time was scouted for Team GB trials aged 17, before being confirmed for the first Deaf England squad.

He played all over the world until two years ago when he gave it up so he could be close to home for his daughter. Ross dotes on his daughter, and says that she is "the centre of his universe". He has been single since 2021 and is now ready to find 'the one'.

Ross hopes to find love with the help from show experts

Speaking about being on MAFS, He told Channel 4: “I’ve been engaged before and this is my third time lucky. I’m looking forward to meeting my wife. I’m ready for this.”

Describing his perfect match, Ross revealed that he wants someone with banter, who is easy to communicate with and has strong family values.

Announcing the news of his appearance on the show, He previously took to Instagram and shared the big news and told his followers: "Well…the secret’s out - I married a stranger! Married at First Sight UK."

Married at First Sight airs Monday to Thursday on E4 at 9pm
