Coronation Street fans 'work out' what DS Lisa Swain is really hiding - and she didn't kill Joel

Coronation Street fans seem to be in two minds over whether DS Lisa Swain killed Joel Deering. But some claim to have 'worked out' what the character is really hiding.

At the end of last month, viewers of the ITV soap were concerned for Swain as she was seen trying to hide her agony. Following Joel's sudden disappearance, the Detective Sergeant and her colleague Kit Green thought they had concluded that the solictor may have taken his own life.

At the time, after Joel failed to show for his court appearance and a warrant was issued for his arrest, Kit revealed he had a lead on Joel and he managed to locate his last whereabouts. He then found his car parked next to a bridge with a folded note on the dashboard.

However, Joel's ex-fiancee Dee-Dee Bailey was suspicious and didn't believe the police's theory as she headed to the crime scene herself. After asking Lauren about the location image she had tracked of Joel, Dee-Dee headed off and found a small car hidden in the woods. Dee-Dee immediately told DS Swain, who assured her they would look into it.

But Corrie fans were more concerned for DS Swain who appeared doubled over in agony at certain moments during that particular episode, even coughing and seemingly attempting not to be sick at one point before hiding her pain as she was approached by Carla Connor.

Now, Swain is off the case after Joel's murderous threats to her daughter Betsy were uncovered. She's now being tortured as Kit leads the investigation into Joel's death after his body was found and a murder investigation was launched.

During Wednesday's (October 16) trip to the cobbles, Kit revealed to Lisa that Joel died from two blows to the head, inflicted by a heavy weapon, most likely a crowbar.

Following the piece of information, Lisa was shocked to discover from Yasmeen Metcalfe that she had thrown Mason Radcliffe out because he had a crowbar. Swain went back to the station to encourage Kit to look into the possible lead and later, as the teen disposed of the tool in a bin, he was caught in the act by Kit.

Hauled in for question, Kit asked Mason who admitted he threw out the crowbar after refusing to do a burglary for his brothers and was squatting in Speed Daal alone on the night Joel was killed. But he wasn't telling the truth as a flashback clip showed him being visited by Betsy, with her in tears and scared that Joel was going to come after her before Mason vowed to protect her.

Then, as Dee-Dee spoke to Ronnie about the details of Joel's murder, a flashback clip revealed what he was up to the night Joel died, ahead of Friday's episode teasing he may have been at Joel's flat. In his flashback, Ronnie was seen angrily rummaging through a toolbox in Ed's builder's yard. He eventually came across a crowbar, raising it in the air.

But while some Corrie fans think Swain is responsible for Joel's death, others think her agonising appearance is for another worrying reason
