BBC Strictly Come Dancing winner with JB Gill link reveals 'danger zone' and names competition's 'dark horse'

Former Strictly Come Dancing winner Ola Jordan has suggested that JB Gill found himself in the show's 'danger zone' after he caused a shock landing in the bottom two with his professional dance partner Amy Dowden.

The pair opened Saturday night's (October 19) live show for the first time with their energetic jive routine to Outkast’s Hey Ya! All four judges - Motsi Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke - then awarded them a total of 30 points out of a possible 40.

But it wasn't enough when it came to the public vote and JB and Amy found themselves under the red light of doom as they were left in the bottom two alongside former footballer Paul Merson and his pro dance partner Karen Hauer.

Both couples performed their routines again, with JB and Amy going first with their jive before Paul and his partner Karen performed their Samba to Car Wash by Rose Royce.

The judges all favoured JB and Amy, automatically sending Paul and Karen home. It means that JB and Amy have headed back into training on Monday morning (October 21) for the show's Halloween special.

Following the latest results, Ola, who starred in the dance show as a pro dancer from 2006 to 2015, spoke to Mecca Bingo about JLS star JB finding himself in the dreaded dance-off for the first time.

She said: "I was very surprised, even though I think the jive wasn't great. I was quite disappointed watching it. His jive action wasn't great, he was very heavy in the Jive.

"I danced with JB back in the Christmas Special in 2012 and he did a jive with me, and I remember him being much better then. I don't know if it's the routine that didn't suit him, but it was quite a disappointing dance."

"He found himself in the middle of the leaderboard which is always the danger zone to be. If people didn't love it, then they're not going to vote for it. It's a tricky one, overall he's still quite a good dancer, but I didn't love that jive. I was surprised because I thought he would be really good after doing the Christmas special with me."

She added: "In one way, I'm not really that surprised he was in the bottom two, even though it's still a big shock for people because he's a good dancer. But it shows you that no one is safe, and they've all got to work hard."

And following a fresh week of routines, Ola cast her expert eye and named her 'dark horse' of the competition as Jamie Borthwick, even though his near-perfect scoring routine wasn't quite up her street.

"I don’t know if was impressed by Jamie’s Pasa Doble. It’s a funny one, I’m not loving it. I know everyone seems to like it, but something is missing for me, and I can’t put my finger on it," she said.

"He did really well, he scored 39 points on Saturday but for me, something was missing. He was still probably the best one in the competition. He was still good, don't get me wrong – I'm just being really picky. I think it’s because I expected him to be even better when he signed up."

"I think his ballroom is very good, but with his Latin, I feel like I'm missing something, and I can’t put my finger on it. I think with his Pasadoble for me he could have had better shape in a body upper body."

She added: "Jamie could be a dark horse in the competition though. I think he's definitely going to be up there in a quarter-final or semi-final. He's up there, but I don't know what he is. I don't know if it's the partnership but there is still something missing for me."
