Seven BBC Strictly Come Dancing stars have 'reason to worry' over Halloween week

by · Manchester Evening News

It appears the competition may be wide open this weekend as Strictly Come Dancing returns with a spooktacular special. It's Halloween week in the BBC One dance contest with the 11 remaining couples hoping for a trick instead of treat.

On Saturday night (October 26) those who made it through to week six of Strictly's 20th-anniversary series will take to the ballroom floor once again, this time dressed in spooky attire.

Then, during Sunday’s (October 27) results show, the dancers will showcase a routine, choreographed by Matt Flint, that sees Carlos Gu dressed as the lead character of Tim Burton’s 1988 horror comedy film – and its sequel, released last month.

But back to the main live show and this weekend, comedian Chris McCausland and his partner Dianne Buswell will perform a samba to Stayin’ Alive by the Bee Gees, while JLS member JB Gill and Amy Dowden foxtrot to Dancing In The Moonlight by Toploader.

Reality star Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystal will perform a Viennese waltz to That’s Life by Frank Sinatra, with EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick and Michelle Tsiakkas dancing the American Smooth to The Addams Family theme song.

Also dancing is Morning Live’s Dr Punam Krishan and Gorka Marquez, who will tango to Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) by Eurythmics, and former hockey player Sam Quek and Nikita Kuzmin, who will jive to Time Warp from The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

All the couples will be hoping to make it through to week seven of Strictly 2024 but as the competition heats up, as many as seven of the celebrities still in the show are at risk of a shock Strictly elimination this weekend, according to Ladbrokes.

The bookies have seven names priced at 8/1 or shorter to be sent packing on Sunday night, with Punam Kirishan currently leading the way at 2/1, ahead of Sam Quek (7/2) and Pete Wicks (4/1).

Elsewhere, Shayne Ward is just 5/1 for the boot, while Montell Douglas (7/1), JB Gill (8/1) and Wynne Evans (8/1) are all at risk, as things stand.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "For the first weekend of the series, there's no clear favourite in the Strictly elimination betting... seven names have reason to worry, heading into Saturday night, if the latest odds are anything to go by."
