Coronation Street's DS Lisa Swain actress declares 'love' for co-star amid personal milestone

Coronation Street star Vicky Myers has sweetly decalred her 'love' for her co-star as she celebrated a personal milestone. It was over the summer that Sydney Martin was first introduced to Weatherfield as she quickly formed a bond with her on-screen mum.

Vicky, who plays DS Lisa Swain in the ITV soap, and Sydney, who was cast as her daughter Betsy and before their connection was confirmed, Betsy had already popped up on the cobbles, with the character simply referred to as Sabrina Adetiba's mate.

Later, Betsy made a surprise appearance at Joel Deering's engagement party and demanded money. A stunned Joel hurriedly escorted her away before reluctantly giving her the cash and her identity was only confirmed when DS Swain met her daughter in the precinct park, where they had a confrontation before Swain insisted Betsy get in the car and head home.

Months on and Betsy has managed to cause more trouble on the famous street and her involvement with Joel, who has since been found dead and a murder investigation launch, has saw her mum taken off the case of figuring out what really happened to the solicitor.

But away from their on-screen antics, as already mentioned, Vicky and Sydney share a special bond, and the former was among those wishing the newcomer a happy birthday as she celebrated turning 23 over the weekend.

Posting a selfie of the pair to her Instagram Story, Vicky, who was made a regular Corrie cast member earlier this year to fans' delight, wrote: "Happy birthday Sydney! Hope you've had a wonderful day, you beautiful woman! Love you."

Meanwhile, Sydney was seen enjoying a low-key celebration as she beamed in a snap posted to Instagram in which she could be seen sitting on her bad with a cake in her hand and a teddy on her lap. Alongside the post she wrote: "Me and Larry the lamb turning 23 today (hea's my most prized possession)."

It comes after Vicky was quick to gush over her new on-screen daughter when the Manchester Evening News caught up with her at the recent RadioTimes.com Soap Awards in Manchester back in July. Asked how Sydney was getting on, she said: "She's doing really well. I love working with her. She's growing every day and she's learning every day."

She added: "She's just a beautiful soul and an absolutely terrific young actress so I'm really exciting to see how the story evolves between the two of them [Lisa and Betsy]."
