Furious Coldplay fans call for investigation over Ticketmaster 'limited availability' as soon as general sale starts

Furious Coldplay fans are calling for an investigation after joining huge queues on Ticketmaster to buy tickets to see the band in 2025 - only for a message to say there was "extremely limited availability" as soon as the general sale started this morning (September 27).

Tickets went on general sale for Coldplay's UK stadium gigs in Hull and London at 9am, after a pre-sale was held on Thursday. But fans were left shocked when they joined the queues online to see a message to flash up immediately, warning that there was "extremely limited availability across all ticket options".

Queues of over 200,000 formed online to try to get tickets for the seven UK shows. The two gigs at Hull's Craven Park in August 2025 were confirmed to have sold out just after 9.40am on Friday.

Rebecca Wade shared the Ticketmaster notification on the limited availability which was posted at 9am and wrote on X: "@Ticketmaster needs some sort of external investigation into the way they run that website because there’s no way it should be accepted that the same second general sale goes live, so does this notification. It’s a disgrace."

Beth Underwood wrote: "Ticketmaster is actually diabolical, tickets go on sale at 9am and are practically sold out by 9:02am?"

@Bethaniexxo wrote: "Waited in the waiting room for half an hour before sale started, get in at 9am and apparently most ticket types gone by 9am! It’s impossible."

@abcdefghannah added: "Reassuring that there was already limited availability at 9am when the tickets went on sale - the Maths ain’t Mathing."

Adding further fury to fans was seeing the scores of people heading onto X to offer tickets for resale at inflated sums within minutes of purchasing them on Friday.

Many music fans believe there needs to be a major change to the system of ticketing in the UK as "real fans" are continually missing out. It comes after the huge clamour for Oasis' reunion gigs in recent weeks.

Mondays Child wrote on X: "Couldn’t get presale tickets and now can’t get general sale tickets. Yet so many people are selling them on within 20 mins of them going live. This isn’t just #Coldplay, this is all major gigs. Real, decent fans have no chance anymore."

Failing to get tickets for the Coldplay shows capped off a frustrating morning for many fans - who had earlier fumed that they'd not been able to get access to their Ticketmaster accounts as they were asked to enter a verification code that didn't immediately land in their inbox.

Other fans on the Ticketmaster App couldn't get into the online queue as they were met with an error message saying they needed to check their internet connection.

We have asked Ticketmaster for comment on all the issues raised this morning and are awaiting a reply.

Coldplay's Music of the Spheres World Tour is scheduled to end in the UK on August 31, at Wembley Stadium in London. The stage show has been ongoing since 2022 and has been performed in the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia to name a few.
