Ryan Thomas 'anxious' in relatable parenting admission while spying on daughter's milestone event

Ryan Thomas has shared a relatable parenting moment with fans as his daughter celebrated a milestone. The actor admitted to having 'anxiety' as actress Scarlett Thomas celebrated her 16th birthday with a Halloween-themed bash.

Ryan, who shot to fame playing Jason Grimshaw in Coronation Street, shares his eldest child with co-star ex Tina O'Brien and fans may know Scarlett for starring in Waterloo Road as Izzy, the daughter of Donte Charles played by her real-life uncle Adam Thomas.

The dad-of-three, who shares Roman and Lilah with his fiancee Lucy Mecklenburgh, was recently seen preparing for the occasion by organising a playlist for Scarlett's bash.

And on Thursday (October 24), the big night arrived. Taking to his Instagram Story, Ryan said in a video: "So it's my daughter's sixteenth birthday party tonight and we're going into Manchester. Scarlett wanted a party bus so I got her a party bus and she said, 'Dad, I don't want you to come on the bus with me, it's embarrassing'."

He revealed how he'd instead roped in his friend Zak to help. "I'm got him a hi-vis jacket and he's going to keep an eye on Scarlett and all her friend. Which if you knew Zak, he's probably the worst person to put on the bus," Ryan laughed before adding: "Wish us luck!"

He later watched Zak and another friend head off onto the bus before adding alongside the video: "I'm actually gutted I'm not allowed on [crying laughing emoji].

Ryan then was seen heading to the venue where a red carpet had been set up outside with a photographer for Scarlett and her friends. The inside of the venue had been decked out with huge '16' LED lights with black Halloween-themed balloon display. "Quick sneaky look at th party then dad's got to keep out the way," he admitted.

The 40-year-old, however, couldn't help but keep a close eye on the special event. From outside, he said to the camera: "Any other dads have anxiety watching their daughter at a 16th birthday party knowing they're not allowed to come inside? I can't help but keep any on what's going on. There's a group of lads in there somewhere.."

But he did have someone in there to help keep an eye as former Corrie co-star Sally Dynevor's daughter Hattie, who also stars in Waterloo Road as Libby Guthrey. Alongside a picture of the pair he said: "Love seeing this one @hattiedynevor."
