Channique Sterling-Brown's character, Dee-Dee Bailey, may be vindicated in Coronation Street as a shocking revelation next week could cast doubt on the alleged death of Joel Deering. After terrorising Lauren Bolton and forcing her to secretly escape from the street, duty solicitor Joel, played by Calum Lill, was exposed for his heinous actions, leading to charges and the loss of his fiancee Dee-Dee, who has been tirelessly working to bring him to justice.

However, recent episodes of the ITV soap saw Joel vanish from the cobbles and on Monday (September 30), DS Lisa Swain, portrayed by Vicky Myers, informed Dee-Dee that Joel had likely taken his own life after finding a note in his abandoned car on the outskirts of Weatherfield. Despite this, Dee-Dee refused to believe that Joel was truly dead, particularly after finding his getaway vehicle near where his car had been located, and spoilers have confirmed there's a chance she might be right.

In forthcoming scenes, Kit Green, played by Jacob Roberts, accesses the files on Joel's laptop and is horrified by what he finds, prompting him to update Lisa Swain. However, later, Kit admits he's struggling to make headway with the case.

Dee-Dee brings Kit some potentially game-changing news in his mission to bring Joel to justice. She informs him at the cafe that she's been in touch with the wedding venue and holiday company, uncovering that Joel has already collected their deposits - a shrewd move for someone on the run?

Coronation Street fans have been voicing their suspicions about Kit Green possibly being Joel's covert ally, as reported by the Mirror. On Twitter, viewers have been airing their theories, with one fan predicting, "Looks like Joel gonna be back for Xmas revenge storyline #Corrie", and another commenting, "#Corrie ah yes - Joel faking his death!"

Another viewer posited, "Kit has a hand in this Joel business. Mark my words. #corrie" Trust issues were evident in tweets like: "Kit helped orchestrate that #corrie" and "Don't trust Kit at all... #corrie.", reports Nottinghamshire Live.

Calum Lill's exit from the cobbles was made public during the summer. The actor, known for his previous work on Hollyoaks, joined the cast of the ITV soap last year as a duty solicitor and romantic interest for Dee-Dee Bailey.

Despite winning over the popular character, fans have been suspicious of him from the start. In a shocking turn of events, it has been revealed that Joel's true nature has finally been exposed, confirming fans' worst fears.

The truth about his involvement in Lauren Bolton's disappearance and his manipulation of the vulnerable young woman has come to light, including the fact that he fathered her newborn son. As a result, it has been officially announced that the character will be leaving Weatherfield, following the news of the actor's decision to leave the long-running show.

A source revealed to The Sun: "Calum has made a huge impact as Joel over the last year but he always knew it would be for a fixed term", and shared details about the actor's upcoming final scenes, saying "He's been great playing Joel but all good soap villains must get their comeuppance and Joel's is coming very soon."
