ITV Coronation Street fans spot glaring Kit Green 'blunder' as Lisa Swain is arrested
by Angie Quinn · PlymouthLiveIn a recent episode of Coronation Street, another twist was added to Joel Deering's murder case as DS Lisa Swain found herself under arrest for the crime. However, viewers were quick to point out a significant issue.
During Monday's episode (November 11), a worried Dee-Dee Bailey (played by Channique Sterling-Brown) believed she was responsible for the death of her former fiancé Joel (Calum Lill).
She admitted to DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) that she had struck Joel with a crowbar in self-defence and had anonymously called Kit on the same night. As Dee-Dee recounted her last encounter with Joel, she disclosed that he had a suitcase and that the weapon was located in her father's backyard.
Dee-Dee also maintained that Joel was alive when she left him and confirmed that he had messaged her after the incident. However, Kit was sceptical of her account.
Suddenly, PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) arrived at the station and announced that the blood-stained murder weapon had been discovered and it was a rock, seemingly clearing Dee-Dee of suspicion, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Shortly afterwards, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) was arrested for Joel's murder, leaving her new friend Carla Connor (Alison King) in shock. Lisa's CS issue spray was found alongside the murder weapon, making her the main suspect, while a surprised Dee-Dee was released without charge.
Suspicion arose when Dee-Dee noticed Kit's defensive reaction to queries about whether he discovered Joel that night. While Kit did interrogate Lisa, providing her alibi, it failed to match the timeline of Joel's last moments, casting a shadow over Lisa's innocence.
Yet, eagle-eyed Corrie enthusiasts didn't miss a beat, pointing out a flaw in the storyline: Kit's rank disqualifies him from conducting an interview with Lisa, as she's his senior within the police hierarchy.
Viewers took to social media to express their observations. On X, one viewer remarked: "Kit can't interview Swain it has to be at least one rank above her #Corrie", with another adding, "DS Swain being interviewed by Kit? Shouldn't it be the other way round? #Corrie."
A third posted: "They don't do that Line of Duty thing in corrie. DS Swain is entitled to be questioned by an officer at least one rank superior than DC Kit Zodiac smug Green."
One more viewer pointedly criticized the scene: "#Corrie no way Kit can interview DS Swain whilst she drunk."
Another comment voiced a critical opinion on the scenario: "Good to see that Kit questioning his superior didn't make him anymore of an arrogant t*** #Corrie."
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:30pm on ITV and ITVX
