Christopher Reeve's Son Reveals His Favorite Scene Featuring His Dad in SUPERMAN

Christopher Reeve is the perfect Clark Kent / Superman, and no matter how hard any actor tries, no one will be able to bring to the character what Reeve brought to him. It was truly something special, and every time I watch the original Superman movie I’m in awe.

There are so many great scenes that showcase Reeve’s acting talent in Superman, but there’s one that completely blew my mind that I didn’t notice until I was older, and this scene also happens to be the favorite scene of Reeve’s son,Matthew Reeve.

Matthew talks about the scene in the upcoming documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, and we have a clip here for you to watch thanks to CinemaBlend.

Reeve says in the clip: “There’s this amazing scene – it’s my favorite scene of my dad’s film work. He was playing Superman, playing Clark Kent. He kind of, like, takes his glasses off, and he transforms. He puts his glasses back on, and he’s Clark again, instantly. I mean, he absolutely nailed it.”

What I love about this scene is that there’s no need for special effects. No need for any kind of visual tricks. It’s just Christopher Reeve relying on his own physicality and acting to illustrate the difference between Kal-El, and his Clark Kent persona.

The synopsis for the doc reads: "The story of Christopher Reeve is an astonishing rise from unknown actor to iconic movie star, and his definitive portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman set the benchmark for the superhero cinematic universes that dominate cinema today.

“Reeve portrayed the Man of Steel in four Superman films and played dozens of other roles that displayed his talent and range as an actor, before being injured in a near-fatal horse-riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down.

“After becoming a quadriplegic, he became a charismatic leader and activist in the quest to find a cure for spinal cord injuries, as well as a passionate advocate for disability rights and care – all while continuing his career in cinema in front of and behind the camera and dedicating himself to his beloved family."

Directed by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, this film delves deep into the life and career of the man who made the world believe that "a man could fly."

Will Reeve, Christopher Reeve's youngest son, said: "You might think you know Superman, or the advocate, or whatever version of Christopher Reeve you think you know, but then you get to see him as a dad."

This is a movie that you don’t want to miss. It will be released on September 21st, 2024.
