Legendary blues guitarist Sue Foley will be coming to Salmon Arm in March with her One Guitar Woman tour.

Foley’s music honours blues and finger picking heroines like Memphis Minnie and Maybelle Carter whose signature Carter scratch style revolutionized guitar playing in the 1920s.

“It shows a different perspective,” Foley said. “Hopefully, it will open the gates for more girls and women to embrace their place in the history of guitar. After all, we’ve been here all along.”

The tour is named after Foley’s latest album One Guitar Woman which showcases her wide variety of influences from flamenco guitar tracks to original folk-country compositions.

Foley has earned international accolades including the 2024 Blues with a Feeling/Lifetime achievement award at the Maple Blues awards, as well as four consecutive 2024 Blues Music awards for best traditional blues female and even a Juno award.

“I grew up with strong female musical influences like Heart, Linda Ronstadt, and Chrissie Hynde,” she said. “They taught me that talent and skills were more important than looks and fluff. Playing matters.”

Sue Foley will perform at the Song Sparrow Hall in Salmon Arm at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

Tickets are on sale now and available on the Salmon Arm Folk Music website.
