‘Despicable Me 4’ Lands Streaming Premiere Date On Peacock

Despicable Me 4—the animated summer movie smash starring the voice of Steve Carell—has a date with the Peacock streaming service.

Despicable Me 4, which was released in theaters on July 3, is actually the sixth film in the Despicable Me franchise. The franchise also includes two Minions spinoff films.

In the latest installment of the franchise, former supervillain turned Anti-Villian League agent Gru (Carell), busts his former high school classmate Maxime (Will Ferrell). Maxime has harnessed the power of cockroaches to realize his nefarious plans, and he uses his powers to break out of jail with a promise to exact revenge on Gru, his wife and fellow AVL agent, Lucy (Kristen Wiig), and their family.

As such, Gru, Lucy and their family are relocated to a safe house with three of Gru’s Minions (Pierre Coffin), while the rest of the Minions stay at the AVL headquarters. While there, five of the Minions volunteer for an experimental program that will turn them into superpowered Mega Minions.

Despicable Me 4 also stars the voices of Sofia Vergara, Steve Coogan, Stephen Colbert and Joey King.

According to When to Stream, Despicable Me 4 will debut on streaming video on demand on Peacock on Thursday, October 31. You must be a subscriber to the NBC Universal streaming platform to watch Despicable Me 4 on Peacock.

Otherwise, Despicable Me 4 is available right now on digital streaming via premium video on demand, as well as 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD.

How Was ‘Despicable Me 4 Received By Audiences And Critics?

Since its release in theaters on July 3, Despicable Me 4, per The Numbers, has earned $360.4 million domestically and nearly $588.2 million in international ticket sales for a worldwide box office of $948.6 million to date.

The Numbers reported that Despicable Me 4 had a production budget of $100 million before prints and advertising costs.

Rotten Tomatoes critics gave Despicable Me 4 a 56% “rotten” rating based on 164 reviews. The RT Critics’ Consensus reads, “Fast-paced and teeming with slapstick gags, Despicable Me 4 is as overstuffed as a piñata but full of enough candy to give audiences an enjoyable sugar rush.”

Viewers, meanwhile, appeared to love Despicable Me 4. The film has a “fresh” RT Audience Score of 88% “fresh” based on 2,500-plus verified user ratings.

Rated PG, Despicable Me 4 debuts on streaming on Peacock on October 31.
