Chucky’s murder spree has been halted by Syfy. The cable network has opted against a fourth season of the slasher dramedy.

“I’m heartbroken over the news that Chucky won’t be coming back for a fourth season, but am so grateful for the killer three years we did have,” said series creator/executive producer Don Mancini said in a statement. “I’d like to thank UCP/SYFY/Peacock/Eat the Cat, our awesome cast and Toronto-based crew (the best in the business), and finally, to our amazing fans, a big bloody hug. Your incredible #RenewChucky campaign really warmed Chucky’s cold heart. Chucky will return! He ALWAYS comes back.”

Debuting on October 12, 2021, the series followed Chucky as he commited a series of mysterious murders in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Chucky was a sequel to Cult of Chucky, the seventh film in the franchise, and starred Brad Dourif reprising his role as the voice of the title character, alongside Zackary Arthur, Björgvin Arnarson, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Teo Briones, Devon Sawa, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent, Christine Elise, and Jennifer Tilly.

The now final episode of Chucky aired on May 1, 2024, and a total of 24 episodes aired. This series was produced by UCP and executive produced by Mancini, Nick Antosca, Alex Hedlund, David Kirschner and Jeff Renfoe.

Despite the cancellation, the upcoming presence of Chucky at New York Comic Con, which runs from October 17-21 at the Jacob Javits Center, is expected to be present via fan costumes and merchandising opportunities. Mirroring Don Mancini’s sentiments, “Chucky always does come back!”
