Netflix murder mystery The Perfect Couple may not be reviewing amazingly, but it is destroying the service’s top 10 charts, planted in place for two weeks and even holding off the return of Emily in Paris. As such, the “limited series” may not be so limited at all, as tends to happen with uber-popular series, including Nicole Kidman’s own Big Little Lies on HBO.

Now, Kidman herself is chiming in on the possibility of season 2, something she believes should happen, as does much of the cast. Here’s Kidman answering the season 2 question to USA Today:

“I think it’s ripe [for more]…I think there’s still an enormous amount of history and an enormous amount of future.”

Says her onscreen husband Liev Schreiber:

“They're taking a break for now, but who knows? You can have the best cast, you can have the best director, you can have tons of money, but you don't always get that synergy between people where they're making room for each other. And this group of actors was really, really great at that. It was a lot of fun.”

These two are not the only ones talking about season 2 in the cast, as actor Ishaan Khatter is already theorizing about storylines for his character next time around:

“If they want to [do a] season 2, maybe Shooter and Amelia do end up together.”

If the cast is on board, and even the insanely busy Nicole Kidman can make time to return, I do not see any way that Netflix does not greenlight a season 2, even if this was meant to be a miniseries and it’s based on a book that does not have a sequel. They’ll work around that to be sure if it means making another season of a show that has performed this well, critics be damned.

Netflix usually takes anywhere from a few weeks to a month or more to announce show renewals, and this one may be trickier than most given where a new storyline would have to come from, and how much say, Nicole Kidman would ask for to return as the mega A-lister involved with the series. I imagine we’ll hear more about this in a bit, but again, this is almost certainly going to happen given the context here, and it’s far from the first time Netflix has changed plans after seeing a series rocket to success.
