Tennis icon Sir Andy Murray has made it clear to the PA news agency that he will "certainly not" be hitting the dance floor on Strictly Come Dancing.

However, while speaking at the BMW PGA Championship Pro-AM in Surrey on Wednesday, Sir Andy, 37, who hung up his professional rackets last year, hinted that his brother, fellow tennis pro Jamie Murray, might fancy a twirl on the popular BBC show.

Responding to queries about joining Strictly, Sir Andy told PA: "That's highly unlikely. Don't know what my brother will be doing. But it certainly won't be me, that's for sure."

Their mother, Judy Murray, graced the 12th series of Strictly Come Dancing and was voted off in week eight at the iconic Blackpool Tower following her Viennese Waltz to the tune of Let's Go Fly A Kite from Mary Poppins, alongside her dance partner, now-judge Anton Du Beke.

This season's star-studded line-up boasts talents like Miranda's Sarah Hadland, X Factor victor Shayne Ward, Love Island's Tasha Ghouri, Gladiator and Olympian Montell Douglas, EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, Olympic swimmer Tom Dean, and Morning Live's Dr Punam Krishan.

The roster is rounded out with ex-England footballer Paul Merson, Olympic hockey champion Sam Quek, comedian Chris McCausland, opera singer Wynne Evans, DIY SOS's Nick Knowles, JLS's JB Gill, songstress Toyah Willcox, and reality TV personality Pete Wicks.

BBC director general Tim Davie revealed that the corporation is "pretty close to the end" of its investigation into allegations of abuse on Strictly Come Dancing, during his speech at the Royal Television Society London Convention on Tuesday.

The probe was initiated following accusations made against professional dancer Giovanni Pernice by his ex-dance partner Amanda Abbington.

Pernice has denied these allegations.

In the wake of the claims about Pernice's behaviour, fellow dancer Graziano Di Prima also exited the show.
