Prince William forced to tone down dangerous hobby that 'fills Kate with horror'

The Prince and Princess of Wales share many common interests, but there's one hobby of William's that Kate absolutely dreads and has tried to keep their children away from.

Prince William and Kate Middleton share numerous common interests; however there is one particular hobby which the Prince of Wales enjoys that Kate absolutely dreads.

The future King is a fan of motorbiking which Kate is known to not be a fan of after she previously voiced her concerns over the thrill-seeking activity during a visit to Dundee in 2015 at a family event.

Expressing her disapproval for William's motorbike rides, she said: "He's still riding it. It always fills me with horror when he goes out on it. I'm terrified. Hopefully, I'm going to keep George off it."

At the time, their eldest son Prince George was just two-years-old and Princess Charlotte was just born a few months prior. However, it seems that fatherhood has now seemingly altered Prince William's approach to his biking adventures, OK! reports.

Following the birth of their third child, Prince Louis, in 2018 William spoke at the Isle of Man TT motorcycle races about needing to modulate his hobby. He said: "I'm a dad of three. I have to tone it down. I miss the big trips, for me biking was always about being with everybody else."

The 42-year-old has repeatedly voiced his love for motorbikes, famously opting to ride one through London the night before his wedding in 2011. In 2008, he alongside Prince Harry took part in a motorbike rally across South Africa for charity.

However, these days, Prince William opts for more environmentally friendly means of transportation over the royal limousine. The Prince of Wales has reportedly snapped up an e-scooter for zipping around the Windsor estate.

A source revealed to The Sun, "It just makes sense. He whizzes up to the castle when he needs to see the King." While it's illegal to ride e-scooters on public roads unless part of a rental scheme, they're fair game on private property, which is how William uses his.

The source added: "It's a two or three-mile round trip from his family home at Adelaide Cottage to Windsor Castle so it's easier by scooter than car or walking."

The Wales family relocated to Adelaide Cottage from Kensington Palace in 2022, bringing along their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The kids have since switched schools from St Thomas' in Battersea to Lambrook School in Berkshire.

Adelaide Cottage, despite its 2015 update, is seen as quite humble for royal digs, with only four bedrooms. Nevertheless, William and Kate have held onto their other properties: Apartment 1a at Kensington Palace as their London pad and Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

Back in 2022, royal commentator Victoria Murphy shared insights into the Prince and Princess of Wales' relocation, explaining: "The move, which a palace source said has been driven by their desire to have as normal a family life as possible, allows William and Kate the opportunity to offer their children a more rural upbringing away from central London and the hustle and bustle of Kensington Palace, which is a popular tourist attraction".
