Outlander fans are sure to get hooked on this must-see fantasy show that's new to Netflix

Netflix has recently acquired a new show that includes a supernatural romance similar to Starz's Outlander.

Outlander fans will be happy to know that there's another fantasy show that might just fill the void after season 8 wraps up - and US fans can already stream it on Netflix.

A Discovery Of Witches, which also sees a supernatural romance spanning across many different eras, is based on Deborah Harkness's All Souls trilogy and appears to follow the perfect formula for Outlander fans to get hooked.

The Sky series has a star-studded cast led by Matthew Goode of Downton Abbey fame and features a compelling array of witches, vampires, and daemons as they navigate a world of love, power, and ancient feuds.

The main characters are Diana Bishop (Teresa Palmer), a reluctant witch and historian and centuries-old vampire Matthew Clairmont (Matthew Goode) with their incredible love story forming the basis of the series.

The pair travel time and continents as they fight to stay alive and stay together with a plotline that Outlander fans will greatly appreciate. Fans of Outlander's Claire will find themselves warming to Diana who is an equally fierce and independent female lead.

Matthew meanwhile possesses much of Jamie's intense masculinity with the added twist of being a vampire who has a ferocious side which is counteracted by his unbridled love and passion for Diana.

In a similar vein to Outlander, A Discovery of Witches sees Diana and Matthew travel through time as they struggle to evade the danger their love has brought and uncover the truths about their pasts. The historical aspect of the show is a key point that will appeal to fans of Outlander.

One aspect fans also adore when it comes to Outlander is the recreation of the past and the incredible effort to depict the 18th-century Scottish highlands, showing stunning landscapes, a deep fascination with folklore and an understanding of political history.

While A Discovery of Witches also focuses on some incredible historical areas and world regions through time, it adds in a depth of fantastical elements and magic.

While the show is set in present-day Oxford, the cast of vampires, witches, and daemons live among each other in secrecy as the cobblestone streets, ancient libraries, and historical architecture set the perfect base for the supernatural wonder that unfolds episode by episode.

A Discovery of Witches is now available on Netflix in the US and episodes originally aired on Sky in the UK.

Following the closure of Lionsgate+ in the UK, new episodes of Outlander will be available on Starz and to stream on Prime Video channel MGM+ from Sunday, November 22. You must be an Amazon Prime member before you can sign up for MGM+.
