ITV Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? viewers baffled minutes into the show

Viewers tuning into Sunday night's edition (November 3) of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? had the same complaint. Jeremy Clarkson was back in the hosting seat on ITV, introducing the first contestant, Doug Cheetham from Kidderminster.

However, confusion quickly arose among viewers as they questioned whether they were watching a rerun or new content, given that the 39th series of the popular programme concluded in October, 2024. Puzzled viewers took to social media platforms like Twitter, with one asking: "Is this a new episode? " and another stating: "I thought this had finished last week."

A third viewer queried: "Are they mixing up new and old episodes? I think freeview tells me this is series 20 episodes 17?" The confusion deepened with comments such as "How is this a new episode? They have Covid screens between the contestants," and speculations about a potentially overlooked episode: "They must have forgotten this episode cos last week it ended another series", according to the Express.

Another viewer speculated on the episode's origins, remarking: "This must have been an episode recorded in early 2022 that has been sat on the shelf all this time. Notice the lack of handshakes. Odd why ITV didn't put it out with the other episodes of the series," reports the Irish Mirror.

An account on X provided some much-needed clarity, stating: "If you're confused about the episode of #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire which are airing on ITV right now... they're old episodes (not connected to the series which finished a fortnight ago) which have been left on the shelf (as you can tell by the Covid screens)."

Jeremy Clarkson's position as the host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? appears secure, with reports affirming his continuation on the popular quiz show. ITV has delighted TV enthusiasts with the announcement of the return of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Celebrity specials this winter, featuring an exciting array of stars set to raise money for their chosen charities.

Insiders hint that the forthcoming specials could be "the best season yet", ramping up the excitement. This comes after the presenter of Clarkson's Farm disclosed a recent health scare, having had emergency heart surgery following a serious illness during his holiday.

Writing in the Sunday Times, Jeremy Clarkson shared his alarming ordeal where he was suddenly unable to rise from the breakfast table and questioned if his "limbs were working properly". His health woes continued as he found even simple activities like swimming and walking challenging.

After feeling a "tightening in his chest" upon returning to Britain, he was promptly taken to the hospital by ambulance.
