ITV Coronation Street star teases return to cobbles and declares she's 'back in business'
by Ben Lyons, Jessica Sansome · NottinghamshireLiveCoronation Street's Sair Khan has offered fans another sneak peek at her return to the famous cobbles after a lengthy absence. The actress, who portrays Alya Nazir in the ITV soap, has resumed filming following her maternity leave for the birth of her first child.
In April, Sair and her partner Nathan Chilton welcomed a son after a 22-hour labour, which she described as an "absolute rollercoaster". Prior to announcing the arrival of her baby boy, viewers saw her character depart Weatherfield for a job opportunity in Dublin.
However, before leaving, there was a hint of romance between her and boss Adam Barlow, played by Sam Robertson. Sair confirmed her return to the role of Alya in September, sharing a photo of her script on her Instagram Story with the caption: "I am Backstreet."
She was later seen reuniting with co-star Channique Sterling-Brown, who plays Dee-Dee Bailey, for a new photo reportedly taken to commemorate Helen Worth's departure after five decades as Gail Platt.
Channique posted a selfie on her Instagram story of them both getting ready for the photo, writing: "Bailey and Nazir reunited for @coronationstreet picture day," with Luca Toolan (Mason Radcliffe), Rob Mallard (Daniel Osbourne) and Vinta Morgan (Ronnie Bailey) seen smiling behind them, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Sair Khan, known for her role as Alya Nazir in Coronation Street, recently shared a photo of herself and co-star Channique Goodridge (Bailey), captioning it: "Bailey and Nazir back in business @coronationstreet," hinting at their characters' collaboration at Adam's law firm. The 36 year old actress also gave fans a sneak peek into her return to the soap, sharing a picture from her dressing room dressed in character.
She was also seen spending time off-set with co-stars Channique and Charlotte Jordan, who plays Daisy Midgeley. Sair posted pictures of sweet moments with her baby son, captioning the post: "Alya's costume, Corrie girlies, Finding Nemo, Boucle forever, Apple Orchard, Brown girl Autumn, Zero trick or treaters, at this point a book is a mere accessory, timing the nap badly= an hour sat stationary in the car, back at it @davidlloydmanchester."
Former co-star Lisa George responded to the post, writing: "And she's back." Her friends, fans and followers were quick to comment, with @jordsdanx saying: "Beautiful girlie."
