Hero as heroine

Deepak Subramanya has joined the list of heroes who play female characters in Kannada movies. Subramanya, known for the tele serial Lakshmi Nivasa, appears as a woman in the forthcoming movie Mr Rani directed by Madhu Chandra, who is known for the films Selfie Mummy Google Daddy and Vascodigama.

The teaser of Mr Rani has received good response. The movie is about a young man, who comes to Bengaluru to realise his dream of becoming a hero but ends up playing the heroine’s role in a movie in an unavoidable circumstances.

Director Madhu Chandra told BM Mr Rani is different from his previous movies. “Mr Rani is unique. No such movie was made either in Hindi or other languages till date,’’ Chandra said. The shooting of the movie is over and it is expected to arrive in theaters in December. “It was shot in and around Bengaluru and Dubare,’’ the director said.
