Nagarjuna invites Amitabh Bachchan and Chiranjeevi for ANR award ceremony

The Akkineni Nageshwara Rao (ANR) National Award has previously honoured Indian cinema legends like Lata Mangeshkar, Dev Anand, and Amitabh Bachchan. This year, Chiranjeevi will receive the award, presented by Amitabh Bachchan.

The ANR Awards ceremony, scheduled for October 28, will bring together veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Chiranjeevi in Hyderabad. The event commemorates the 100th birth anniversary of Telugu cinema legend Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) and will honour Chiranjeevi with the ANR Award, which will be presented by Amitabh Bachchan.

Nagarjuna, son of ANR, shared news about the event and wrote, "This year is extra special as we celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of my father, ANR garu! Honoured to invite @SrBachchan ji and Megastar @KChiruTweets garu to the ANR Awards 2024 to mark this milestone! Nagarjuna also posted images from his recent meeting with Chiranjeevi to formally invite him to the ceremony.

The ANR Award, founded in 2005 by the Akkineni International Foundation, recognises outstanding contributions to Indian cinema. Over the years, the award has gone to several well-regarded figures, including Dev Anand, Lata Mangeshkar, Sridevi, Hema Malini, Rekha, Shabana Azmi, and K Balachander.

Amitabh Bachchan received the ANR Award in 2014. At that time, he spoke about ANR’s contributions to Indian cinema and their shared journey in the industry. This year, he will return as the award presenter, highlighting his longstanding association with the Akkineni family.

The ANR Awards 2024 ceremony will host several noted figures from the film industry to mark ANR’s centenary year. The ceremony is expected to draw a host of celebrities from across the film industry, paying tribute to ANR’s influence and to Chiranjeevi’s immense contributions as one of Telugu cinema’s most beloved stars.
