'Make anxiety your friend': Vicky Kaushal shares advice he got from senior actor

Actor Vicky Kaushal has often spoken about dealing with anxiety and insecurities due to the nature of his profession. In a recent interview, he shared advice he received from a senior actor on managing anxiety and also offered guidance for those looking to pursue careers in creative fields.

Speaking to Harper's Bazaar India, Vicky shared, "The best thing to do for anxiety is to acknowledge it. The enemy is indulging in it. A senior actor once told me to make anxiety your friend. It’s always going to be there; you just need to master it." He added, "Acknowledging it is a great first step.”

The Sardar Udham actor mentioned that on hard days, he feels his best when he keeps himself creatively challenged, instead of focusing on what could be.

During the interaction, Vicky Kaushal also expressed his interest in taking up film direction. “It’s fascinating to see different approaches in filmmaking. I’m not sure if I’d take that step myself just yet, but I’m definitely intrigued," the 36-year-old actor said.

The actor, who was last seen in Anand Tiwari's romantic-comedy Bad Newz, is gearing up for the release of Laxman Utekar's Chhaava, where he essays the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Scheduled for a December release, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna.

He has also reportedly started shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next, Love and War, alongside Ranbir Kapoor. The film also stars Alia Bhatt in a pivotal role.
