New Radicals Reunite for Kamala Harris on ‘Forward (We’re Not Going Back!)’

· Rolling Stone

In the closing days of the 2012 presidential campaign, Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois of the New Radicals teamed up with Ne-Yo, the Goo Goo Dolls’ Johnny Rzeznik, Herbie Hancock, Delta Rae, and Natasha Bedingfield to create the Barack Obama campaign anthem “Forward.” Twelve years later, Alexander and Brisebois have updated the song as “Forward (WE’RE NOT GOING BACK!)” for Kamala Harris, joined once again by Ne-Yo and Herbie Hancock. It was produced by John Shanks, Gregg Alexander & Nick Lashley. They’ve dubbed themselves the Not So Silent Collective.

Check out the “Forward (WE’RE NOT GOING BACK!)” video featuring cameos by Jeff Bridges and David Hogg. The song and video are being released by The Coda Campaign, a grassroots group of artists from television, film, and social media. The song is paired with a new image of Kamala Harris created by artist Shepard Fairey, who created the iconic Hope artwork for Obama in 2008.

“Forward (WE’RE NOT GOING BACK!)” songwriters Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois penned these words about their new song and video.

New Radicals are proudly joining legends Ne-Yo, Herbie Hancock, Bon Jovi’s John Shanks, and more sayin’ and singing “Forward!” in the Not So Silent COLLECTIVE, an open-door group until November 5th for artists of all stripes, including art legend Shepard Fairey, wordsmith hero David Hogg and more, to loudly speak and use their vote with that same passion Springsteen just spoke of Americans not throwing their democracy away.

Since American hero Travis Kelce tweeted he’s got “the dreamers disease!” we’re proud as that’s just the spirit of not letting any all-caps “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” bully artists or anyone into not using their voice to shout Democracy is at stake in this election, including Taylor and her brilliant peers using their freedom of speech to send that message loud and clear the next 6 days. Kamala’s opponent openly stated if he wins this will be America’s last Presidential election. That’s un-American, so that’s what’s at stake, too.

No one’s stopped those brilliant young artists, and especially young women ready for America’s first woman President, in using their platform for women’s rights and freedom of speech before — and surely won’t this week either.
