Top 5 Best ‘Saw’ Traps We Wouldn’t Want To Be Stuck In

· Thought Catalog

October 29th is the 20th anniversary of the original Saw film. With now a total of 10 movies, in the franchise, Saw took over the splatter and gore horror genre and gave us all a new villain to be scared of. Plus, if anything, John Kramer made you rethink how you treated other people because one wrong move and you could end up in a Saw trap. With the movie’s milestone anniversary, lets take a look at the top 5 best traps from the Saw franchise and how much they made us squirm.

1. Reverse Bear Trap

The number 1 spot has to go to the most iconic in the film series, which is the Reverse Bear Trap. Originally showing up in the first film, since it’s introduction to the series it has gone on to be reused in multiple films in the franchise as well as through the video game. The trap is secured to the victim’s head and if they are unable to get it open in time, it will rip the victim’s head open from the mouth. Incredibly brutal.

2. The Needle Pit

Imagine yourself being pushed into a hole full of dirty syringes and being unable to move without being stabbed by tens of needles at one time. That’s the reality of the needle pit from Saw II. This trap isn’t as gory as some of the other ones, but it absolutely will give you the heebie jeebies watching it because it just oozes with discomfort and will make you a little sick to your stomach as Amanda Young (Shawnee Smith) digs through them to find the key to open the door.

3. The Angel Wings

The Angel Wing trap from Saw III is a damned if you do, damned if you don’t type of situation and regardless, you can’t walk away scot-free. The Angel Wings are attached to the front of the victim’s body via huge spikes into the rib cage. There is a key to open it, but it is at the bottom of a glass of acid. So, you either reach in and try to grab the key before your hand disintegrates or you let the Angel Wings pull the entire front of your body clean off. Good luck deciding, I guess!

4. The Venus Fly Trap

Something about eye pain and eye scenes in horror movies is absolutely the worst. In Saw II, the Venus Fly Trap is agonizing and touches on those eyeball fears in the most excruciating way. The victim has an open mask attached to his neck and if it snaps shut, it will kill him instantly from the spikes inside the mask. There’s a key, but it is lodged behind the eyeball. *cue shudders*

5. The Scalping Seat

The Scalping Seat in Saw IV is one that is mostly horrifying from the sounds that are happening as the trap goes off. A woman is strapped to a chair as her ponytail is inserted into a metal ring. When the trap is going off, that ring slowly starts pulling her hair further and further back. Eventually, this trap rips her scalp clean off. It’s a simple trap but incredibly effective at grossing us all out.
