'Aamir Khan is a busy father, knows nothing about Azad's school', Kiran Rao on co-parenting with him

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao have been co-parenting their son Azad Khan after their divorce. The duo are still good friends after separation and are often a part of each other's big moments. Recently, Kiran opened up about co-parenting Azad with Aamir and how he's a busy father. She also talked about the challenges they faced when they were together and how things have gotten easier now.

Kiran on co-parenting Azad with Aamir

On Kareena Kapoor Khan's 'What Women Want' talk show, the actress asked Kiran Rao about co-parenting Azad Khan with Aamir Khan. The Delly Belly director said that it is tricky as Aamir is a very busy father. Rao stated that even when they were married, she was doing a lot of actual primary parenting. However, when they got separated and divorced, Aamir realised he would also have to contribute a lot to Azad's life, as things are different when people are living in the same house. Kiran stated that for Aamir, making time for Azad became more of a conscious decision recently.

Further in this entertainment news, Kiran Rao shared that co-parenting with the Laal Singh Chaddha actor is now smoother as he is more involved. They will be in separate rooms, but not far away from each other. "Azad is enjoying his time with his dad a lot more as he is now older. It has reached a place where it is really nice. I feel like I can relax and leave Azad with Aamir. Only Aamir knows nothing about school. I think it’s the majority of the dads’ problem. They are always like, 'Don’t get us involved in school-related activities; we will take up other things'," Rao shared.

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao got married in 2005 and got separated and divorced in 2021. The couple welcomed their son Azad via surrogacy in 2011. On the work front, Kiran's critically acclaimed film Laapataa Ladies is being sent as a nomination from India for the Oscars 2025. The movie is produced by Aamir Khan Productions.
