Liam Payne, the One Direction star, may have been "partly or fully unconscious" when he tragically fell from a hotel balcony, according to prosecutors. The 31 year old singer fell from the third floor of a hotel in Argentina's capital.

Emergency services, including police, firefighters and ambulances, were spotted outside the hotel following the tragic incident. Reports suggest that police were called to the scene due to a man behaving aggressively, possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

A body was discovered in the hotel's internal patio. The hotel manager reportedly alerted the police.

It is believed that Liam fell approximately 13 or 14 metres, sustaining "very serious injuries incompatible with life."

The local ambulance manager released a statement to TN, saying: "At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel.", reports the Mirror.

Case sources revealed that the victim fell into an internal courtyard filled with tables and chairs, where the hotel's confectionery shop operates. The area has a retractable roof which was open at the time, and luckily, no other people were present.

An autopsy revealed that the singer died from severe injuries sustained in the fall and did not adopt a reflex position. Given these findings, prosecutors believe that he may have been partly or fully unconscious when he fell, as reported by Fiscales.

The music world is in shock following the tragic demise of Liam, who succumbed to "internal and external haemorrhaging" as revealed by a postmortem conducted by forensic pathologists in Buenos Aires. Argentinian authorities await further tests to shed light on the singer's untimely passing.

Reports indicate that Liam had checked into his hotel solo before meeting his fate. Alberto Crescenti, a spokesman for the city's ambulance service, described the catastrophic fall from 40 metres, leading to "severe injuries which were incompatible with life."

He said: 'The alarm was raised at 5.04pm local time saying a person was lying in an internal patio at Casa Sur. At 5.11pm an ambulance arrived and the man was certified dead. Afterwards we found out he had been a famous singer. Unfortunately the injuries he had suffered as a result of the fall proved to be fatal. There was no possibility of resuscitating him.'".

On social media, Liam had also expressed his excitement about the trip: "We're going to Argentina. One, because we have to, and two, because we want to, and three, because Niall Horan's playing down there and I think we might just go and say 'Hello'. It's been a while since me and Niall have spoken. We've got a lot to talk about and I would like to square up a couple things with the boy. No bad vibes or nothing like that, but just, we need to talk."

In a heart-wrenching twist, it's understood Liam was vacationing with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, who recently flew back to her hometown in the United States.

In a touching last glimpse into his life, the singer had shared snaps with his followers on Snapchat just hours before news of his untimely passing emerged. The posts featured Liam cheerfully interacting with his grub and detailing his plans to engage in a polo match.

He captured moments of his partner Kate Cassidy as they relished breakfast well into the afternoon. He quipped: "This is the breakfast table, just enjoying breakfast and coffee even though it's 1pm."

Moreover, he disclosed that they had been crashing at a mate's place, while in the background, Kate playfully dubbed them "losers" for their late start to the day.

In the footage, Liam relayed: "Today, we ride. I think I'm going to be playing polo again, which is going to put me out of action for about six weeks. Honestly, polo, out of everything I've ever done sports-wise, not that I'm taking up polo professionally, by the way, I'm just like, I had a go for some fun."

The challenge of the sport wasn't lost on him as he admitted, "It's so hard to do, number one. Number two, my back and my neck from swinging that hammer around, or mallet, I think it's called, if you're in the know, it's polo language."

Later, he offered another snippet of his life, filming himself while joking: "I look like the Joker, my hair's a bit cray-cray."
