Even Squid Game Doesn’t Seem to Know Why It’s Back

But that whole “world domination” thing meant that it, of course, had to get a second season. Call it the Big Little Lies effect. Now, the first trailer for the show’s upcoming second season is out and even the show itself seems surprised. The trailer teases that Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) makes a return to the games, and his fellow contestants are confused. “Why the hell would you come crawling back?” a new contestant asks. Well, because the show was number one on Netflix, of course! Still, we trust series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk with our lives (maybe a bad decision), and the show, as always, looks absolutely gorgeous. What? We’re supposed to pretend like we’re not going to watch immediately when it debuts on December 26? The whole family will, post Christmas. You grandma, your nephew, your cousin …
