People Are Begging This Woman To Dump Her Boyfriend After He Made A Slideshow Critiquing Her Cooking
by Michaela Bramwell · BuzzFeedThe audacity of men must be studied, and this story proves it. This woman's 30-year-old boyfriend doesn't know how to cook and had the nerve to critique the meals she's made him in the pettiest way possible.
Here's the full story from user eska089: "So, this happened a few days ago, and I’m still trying to process it. For context, I (28, female) have been with my boyfriend (30, male) for about two years. We live together, and I’ve always done most of the cooking because I genuinely enjoy it, and he claims he can’t even boil water without setting off the smoke alarm."
"The other night, I made one of our favorite meals, and while we were eating, he got a weird smirk on his face. He then says, 'You know, I've been taking notes.' I laughed, thinking he was joking, but then he said, 'No, really. I made a presentation.'"
"I still thought it was a joke until he got up, connected his laptop to the TV, and opened a PowerPoint titled 'Improving Our Home Dining Experience.' I was in disbelief as he went slide by slide critiquing my dishes: 'Slide 1: Too Much Garlic, Slide 2: Pasta Consistency, Slide 3: More Salt, Less Sass.' The kicker was Slide 8, which was just a photo of Gordon Ramsay facepalming with the caption, 'What he'd think.'"
"I was stunned. I told him if he had such detailed opinions, he should cook himself. He tried to backtrack, saying it was 'all in good fun' and that he was 'just trying to help.' But I wasn't laughing. I haven't cooked since, and now he's been living off cereal and takeout. He's sulking, saying I'm overreacting and ruining the joke. So, Reddit, am I the asshole for refusing to cook after my BF presented me with a PowerPoint critique of my cooking?"
So, yeah. Commenters all agreed that the boyfriend was absolutely the asshole, but the solutions ranged from never cooking for him again to dumping him ASAP.
"If he can make a Powerpoint about all his complaints about your cooking, he can learn how to follow a recipe like a big boy," user WebInformal9558 said.
"His entitlement and the weaponized incompetence are a parade of red flags," user moreKEYTAR agreed.
"When he saw she was upset, he didn’t react with apologies and offered to learn to cook finally (like an adult). He sulked and dug in his heels about the 'joke.' This guy SUCKS."
"That PowerPoint was way over the top, especially considering he doesn’t even cook himself. If he wanted to offer feedback, there were way better ways to go about it."
"Honestly, it's fair to take a break from cooking after that stunt — it sounds like he could use a reality check on how much effort goes into making meals regularly. Hopefully, this shows him it’s not 'just a joke' when it’s at someone else’s expense," user BlissfulBreeze57 wrote.
"Yeah, no. My ex was the same. He'd absolutely decimate me about something; it could be anything: cooking, eating, what I wore, my makeup, literally anything. Then when I got upset or fought back, every single time I got, verbatim, 'Fuck sake, can you no take a fucking joke? I can't fucking say anything.' Every. Single. Time. You'll notice I said ex."
"Cook for yourself, let him eat cereal until he can understand he was wrong and why," Ashamed-Director428 wrote.
