Good Morning Britain fans left divided over 'unnecessary' change to ITV show
by Jasmine Allday · DevonLiveGood Morning Britain viewers were left with mixed feelings this Tuesday when the programme introduced a significant change.
In an unusual twist, regular presenters Susanna Reid and Ed Balls took the broadcast to Washington D.C. while their usual spot at the desk was filled by Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway, with Ranvir Singh continuing her role as the news anchor.
The show threw a spotlight on the United States election developments, but some fans were taken aback to see US weather updates included. One viewer aired their thoughts on Twitter, commenting: "Like we're interested in American weather. #GMB," whereas another expressed displeasure with, "We do not need USA weather ....jeez #GMB."
The decision of Susanna Reid and Ed Balls to cross the pond sparked further debate, reports the Mirror.
One said: "There's not even one thing that they will be to say or to demonstrate in Washington that couldn't have been done better in GMB's London studio #gmb." Another remarked: "Are we watching Good Morning Britain or Good Morning America!? #GMB."
Yesterday's show concluded with anticipation, as Ed confirmed their travel plans. One wrote: "Susanna, grab your bags; we're about to go," as Susanna added: "Tune into Good Morning Britain tomorrow live from Washington."
Susanna revealed to Radio Times her plans regarding the upcoming US election coverage, explaining: "Ed Balls and I are flying straight out to Washington DC after hosting Good Morning Britain on Monday 4 November. We'll be soaking up the atmosphere. Then we'll be on the ground, presenting the election results programme on the Wednesday morning."
For numerous years, Susanna has been a familiar face on 'Good Morning Britain,' initially co-presenting with Piers Morgan. Following his departure, she has worked alongside a variety of male co-hosts, such as Ed Balls and Richard Madeley, sharing the presenting duties with them. Kate Garraway also stands as a key figure on the program, sometimes anchoring or reporting the news."
