Strictly Come Dancing Wynne Evans stirs controversy with 'vulgar joke' and misunderstood gestures with dance partner Katya

Opera singer and 'Strictly' star Wynne Evans has landed himself in hot water with an off-colour joke. Sources reveal that during preparations for the show, he remarked that his double chin looked like part of the female anatomy.

The indiscreet comment occurred before the launch show for the BBC competition. An insider shared: "It was a bit of a vulgar dad joke."

No formal complaints were recorded following the pun, yet it seems to have ruffled some feathers among the crew. The source observed: "Wynne clearly didn't mean any offence, but you have to be a little bit careful these days."

In response to the brouhaha, an acquaintance of Evans pointed out that the jest was self-deprecating and took place during a confidential conversation with a makeup artist, with at least one other person there. They underlined that the makeup artist wasn't upset by the gag.

This misstep comes on the heels of previous criticism directed at Evans over his behaviour with his dance partner, Katya Jones. He was recently in the spotlight when video circulated of him laying his hand on her waist, which she pushed away while being filmed, as per the Mirror, reports Birmingham Live.

Netizens gleaned from the footage that Katya seemed uneasy; nonetheless, both parties concerned have confirmed it was all in good humour.

After a video surfaced of Evans being left hanging in an attempted high-five with Katya, the latter clarified their connection by stating, "The hand incident was a very silly inside joke between Wynne and I. So even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way is complete nonsense. It's actually absurd."

Wynne Evans, known for his vibrant appearances in the Go Compare advertisements, has shared insights into his time on 'Strictly Come Dancing', revealing that he and his dance partner Katya are enjoying their time on the show, especially their comical interludes. In a statement, Evans disclosed that they have grown to be "really amazing friends" and described their on-screen high-five mishap as a "running joke" between them.

Evans further pledged to keep audiences entertained, remarking, "I promise we will always be fun we want to be fun for all the family. We want to bring a bit of slapstick comedy, and fun for the kids."

As the show gears up for its Halloween special, Evans voiced his enthusiasm about taking part in his first themed show. Katya added to the excitement, commenting, "Well, you will for Strictly Halloween! We get to do some great fancy dress. This year might be my favourite."
