Ruth Langsford has disclosed her hopes for her son after splitting from Eamonn Holmes after 14 years of marriage.

The former This Morning co-hosts, both aged 64, announced their separation in May, stating that their "marriage is over" and they are in the "process of divorcing".

Eamonn has reportedly moved on with his new partner, Katie Alexander, who is 22 years younger and a BACP registered relationship counsellor. They have been seen together in Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Ruth shared her aspirations for her future in a recent issue of Woman and Home magazine. She specifically mentioned one hope for her son, Jack.

Ruth stated: "Happiness. Happiness for my son, Jack. When you have children, you look at them starting out in life and just want everything to be good for them, for them to be happy and to not have their hearts broken."

She continued: "You can't guarantee any of that, but that's what I want most for Jack," reports the Express.

Since the breakup, Ruth has reportedly engaged a formidable divorce lawyer and recently made a playful dig at her ex on an episode of ITV's Loose Women. The discussion was about how they deal with "old pieces of tat", and whether they prefer to keep or discard them, with Ruth declaring herself a "clearer outer".

She candidly invited "come round" as she's "always got a skip outside", before revealing: "I'm throwing out a lot of stuff out at the moment."

These comments follow reports suggesting her eagerness to eliminate "constant reminders" of the GB News presenter after their unexpected split. She intended for him to "pack up his belongings and move out".

A source confided to Bella magazine that Ruth is seeking a clean slate and doesn't want her former partner thinking he can "pop back and forth". Eamonn, who shares one son with Ruth, has reportedly moved out from the house they once shared and, according to BirminghamLive, has also lost custody of their dog post-split.

Eamonn's health appears to be in decline, often seen using a wheelchair due to back issues, despite having had a double hip replacement in 2016 and subsequent back surgery. The pair, whose romance began in 1996 and led to marriage in 2010, were co-presenters on This Morning for 15 years.
