Graham Norton Show line-up tonight includes Irish icons and two Oscar winners

The Graham Norton Show on Friday night is set to entertain viewers with a star-studded lineup, featuring two of Ireland's most celebrated actors gracing the renowned red sofa.

Joining the Irish pair are two Oscar-winning actors, making it one of the most impressive lineups the show has ever assembled. If you're planning to tune in to this week's Graham Norton Show, here's the rundown of who will be appearing.

Topping the bill this week is Irish heartthrob Paul Mescal, who is preparing for the launch of his biggest film yet, the blockbuster sequel Gladiator II. The eagerly awaited sequel to Ridley Scott's 2000 Oscar-winning film is slated for release in cinemas next month. Mescal steps into the lead role of Lucius, the former heir to the Roman empire who is compelled to fight as a gladiator in the Colosseum after his home is seized by the Roman army, reports the Irish Mirror.

Years after witnessing the death of hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, Lucius now finds himself battling the invaders.

Accompanying Mescal on this week's episode is esteemed Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, who is rumoured to secure her fifth Oscar nomination for her latest film, Blitz. The war drama is helmed by renowned director Steve McQueen and traces the heroic journey of George (Elliott Heffernan), a 9 year old lad in World War II London. His mother Rita (Ronan) sends him to safety in the English countryside.

George, stubborn and resolved to return home to his mum and his grandfather Gerald (Paul Weller) in East London, embarks on an adventure, only to find himself in grave danger, while a distraught Rita searches for her lost son.

Joining them will be Mescal's Gladiator II co-star and Hollywood icon Denzel Washington.

The esteemed US actor appears poised to secure another Oscar-nomination for his role as gladiator trader and arms dealer Macrinus in the forthcoming blockbuster sequel. Washington has received glowing reviews for his portrayal of an enslaved individual-turned-slave owner who schemes to control Rome.

Completing Friday's star-packed lineup is Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne, who will be discussing his role as the solitary hitman in a new TV adaptation of The Day of the Jackal.

The fresh series, premiering on Sky Atlantic and NOW on November 7, is a contemporary retelling of Frederick Forsyth's novel, which was previously adapted into a BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated film back in 1973.

Redmayne takes the lead role as the eponymous assassin, whose merciless deeds trigger a global crisis and that's even before he's contracted to assassinate one of the world's most influential figures. Lashana Lynch stars alongside him as Bianca, an MI6 agent who is relentlessly pursuing the Jackal to prevent him from reaching his next victim, but her all-consuming job threatens to destabilise her personal life.

To conclude, the evening's entertainment will be provided by English indie rock band Blossoms, who are rumoured to be supporting Oasis on their reunion tour next year, a tour that is eagerly anticipated by Britpop fans.
