The world was left in shock on Wednesday following the sudden and tragic death of One Direction star, Liam Payne. The singer, aged 31, died after falling from the third floor of an Argentinian hotel, Casa Sur Palmero.

It was reported that Liam had been behaving unusually and had to be escorted back to his hotel room before the fatal fall. Further reports suggest that the father-of-one had been acting 'erratically' in the hours leading up to his death.

Local media reports indicated that Liam had been seen "acting erratically in the hotel lobby and smashed his laptop' before he 'had to be carried back to his room".

Tragically, shortly after this incident, workers reported hearing a loud noise in the courtyard. Liam's body was discovered shortly after 5pm local time. Audio related to the case, obtained from the Buenos Aires security ministry, captured a call from a worker requesting help with an intoxicated guest.

The worker was heard saying: "When he is conscious he is destroying the entire room and we need you to send someone," according to audio obtained by The Mail Online. Alberto Crescenti, director of emergency medical services, spoke to local news outlet Clarin following Liam's death. He stated: "We verified his identity using the passport he had," before adding: "The team saw that he apparently had a fracture at the base of the skull. "

The Buenos Aires police issued a statement confirming the tragic passing of Liam James Payne. "Liam James Payne, composer and guitarist, former member of the band One Direction, died today after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Palermo," the statement reads. Earlier on social media, Liam shared his reasons for being in Argentina, stating: "We're going to Argentina.

One, because we have to, and two, because we want to, and three, because Niall Horan's playing down there and I think we might just go and say 'Hello'. "Furthermore, he expressed his wish to reconnect with fellow bandmate Niall: "It's been a while since me and Niall have spoken.

Accompanied by his girlfriend Kate Cassidy in the country, Liam was active on social media just hours before the incident. His Snapchat stories showed him sharing glimpses of their meals and mentioning plans of playing polo. In one particular video, Liam commented: "This is the breakfast table, just enjoying breakfast and coffee even though it's 1pm. "

He disclosed they were staying at a friend's place, while Kate humorously added in the background that they are "losers" for sleeping in.

The world came together to mourn and offer their condolences following the announcement of his passing. Dermot O'Leary, the host of X Factor, was among Liam's celebrity friends who paid tribute. He posted a touching black and white photo with Liam, captioning it: "The worst news.

"I remember him as a 14 year old turning up to audition on The X Factor, and blowing us away singing Sinatra. He just loved to sing."

Dermot continued to commend Liam for his courteous and grounded nature, saying: "He was always a joy, had time for everyone, polite, grateful, and was always humble. Sending love and prayers to his family. Dx"

Liam gained fame on the X Factor in 2010, where he joined forces with Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik to form One Direction.
