Sinead spoke with Joe Duffy on his show The Meaning of Life. She reflected on how she wants to be able to embrace moments in her life more and not focus on the next thing.

“My life is filled with joy and it’s in the big and the small moments,” she said. “I think sometimes with the big moments, it’s hard to take stock of them. I am so quick to race to the next thing, that I don’t fully absorb the value of them to me personally.

“I think about being on the cover of Vogue in 2019 and the thing that I left that shoot thinking about was, 'How do I make that more accessible for the next person?'.

“It wasn’t until the days and the weeks later, until I actually held that magazine, that I was kind of awe struck by just the trajectory…having those conversations with my parents and saying here's what I want to do and then having a physical manifestation of that - the joy is in being unreservedly yourself and not being conscious of others when you’re with the people that you deeply love.”

Sinead explained that living independently was one of her biggest goals - one which she achieved.

“One of my very big goals for myself was to be able to live independently, particularly as a disabled person who is self employed and as a woman,” the author shared.

“I can’t even articulate what it means because it was so far from what I believed could happen for me really personally. The joy of being able to be fully independent in a home - I have fully electric blinds, so I don’t have to reach to pull them down - I have thought about every single aspect of my home so that I don’t need help.

“The only place in the world that I am not currently disabled is at home and that’s a joy.”
