Kate Cassidy, the girlfriend of the late Liam Payne, has opened up on social media about her decision to leave Argentina before the tragic incident that led to Liam's death.

The former One Direction star, who rose to fame in 2011 after being put into the band by Simon Cowell on The X Factor, was holidaying with Kate in Buenos Aires when he tragically fell from the third floor of a hotel.

While it is understood that Kate was not present at the time of his fall, the couple had been enjoying an extended stay in Argentina following Liam's appearance at Niall Horan's concert.

On TikTok, Kate shared her feelings about the trip, saying: "I was so ready to leave. Love South America, but I hate staying in one place for too long and we were supposed to be there for five days, turned into two weeks and I was just like, 'I need to go home.'" Although Liam did not accompany her back to Florida, Kate did not elaborate on why he chose to stay.

She showcased her luxurious flight experience, complete with a steak meal, and humorously pointed out that her seat number was "1D," reminiscent of Liam's band. Additionally, she mentioned that she typically travels with a Squishmallow but had left hers with Liam.

Tragically, Liam was found dead approximately 48 hours after the social media post, having fallen from his third-floor hotel room. Emergency services, including police, firefighters and ambulances, were spotted outside the hotel following the incident.

It's reported that police were called to the scene due to reports of a man behaving aggressively, possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A body was discovered in an internal patio of the hotel, with the call to the police made by the hotel manager, reports the Irish Mirror.

It's thought that Liam fell from a height of around 13 or 14 metres, sustaining "very serious injuries incompatible with life."

In a statement, the local ambulance manager told TN: "At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel.

"At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group. Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation."
