Kate Middleton 'given King Charles' blessing to do one thing he never let Diana do'

A Royal commentator has suggested that the Princess of Wales has received King Charles' nod to outshine him, despite his past experiences of jealousy when Princess Diana did the same during their marriage.

While there have been whispers among Royal insiders about concerns that Prince William and Kate's rising popularity could eclipse that of King Charles and Queen Camilla, one expert insists the King is supportive of their limelight.

The immense popularity of Princess Diana reportedly put a significant strain on her marriage with Charles, as he felt overshadowed in the early days of their relationship, especially when public attention favoured Diana over the then-future king.

This sentiment was confirmed by Diana herself during the infamous Panorama interview in 1995.

She shared with viewers: "The pressure on us both as a couple with the media was phenomenal, and misunderstood by a great many people. We'd be going round Australia, for instance, and all you could hear was, 'Oh, she's on the other side.'"

She continued, revealing the impact on Charles: "Now, if you're a man like my husband, a proud man, you mind about that if you hear it every day for four weeks. And you feel low about it, instead of feeling happy and sharing it."

Diana acknowledged that this led to "a lot of jealousy" and noted: "A great deal of complicated situations arose because of that."

An expert has suggested that the new Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, managed to outshine Prince Charles and his wife, Queen Camilla. It was reported that Kate's unexpected appearance at the Chelsea Flower Show last year created more excitement than when Charles and Camilla visited a few hours later, reports The Mirror.

However, Royal expert Robert Jobson has clarified that Kate has the approval of her father-in-law to "steal the limelight" - and it's because he now holds the highest position. In an article for MailOnline, he wrote: "Whilst it is Charles' head that wears the Crown, it is William, Catherine and their children that will steal the limelight. They are bound to. And it is right. This time, it will be with Charles's blessing – for he knows for monarchy to survive it must be relevant to the younger generation."
