Elon Musk responds to ‘SNL’ comedian’s claims he made her cry when he co-hosted the show
Chloe Fineman alleged the Tesla CEO upset her when he hosted the series in 2021
by Damian Jones · NMEElon Musk has responded to claims made by Saturday Night Live comedian Chloe Fineman, alleging that he once made her cry when he co-hosted the show.
In a now-deleted TikTok post, Fineman said the Tesla CEO upset her when he hosted the comedy sketch series in 2021.
According to Fineman, she worked through the night on her sketch during the week Musk was hosting the show. When she presented her sketch to him, he allegedly critiqued her writing and told her he wasn’t the least bit amused.
“You made I, Chloe Fineman, burst into tears because I stayed up all night writing a sketch. I was so excited,” she said in the video. “I came in, I asked if you had any questions, and you stared at me like you were firing me from Tesla and were like, ‘It’s not funny.’
“I waited for you to be like, ‘Haha, JK.’ No. Then you started pawing through my script, flipping each page, being like, ‘I didn’t laugh once. Not one time.’”
Now, Musk has addressed the claims indirectly, offering his side of the story without calling out Fineman on X.

He wrote: “Frankly, it was only on the Thursday before the Saturday that ANY of the sketches generated laughs. I was worried. I was like damn my SNL appearance is going to be so fucking unfunny that it will make a crackhead sober. But then it worked out in the end.”
It comes after Musk recently reacted to SNL’s parody of him following Donald Trump‘s election win last week.
The Republican nominee won the required number of electoral college votes in the November 5 election to secure the presidency for the second time, also defeating Democrat candidate Kamala Harris in the popular vote.
On the November 9 episode of SNL, comedian Dana Carvey debuted his new impression of Musk, which came during the episode’s cold open in which the cast jokingly claimed they had been supporting him all along in fear of being hunted down.
For the impression, Carvey jumped up and down and danced before breaking out an exaggerated South African accent: “Check it out: dark MAGA. Yeah! But seriously, I run the country now. America’s going to be like one of my rockets. They’re super cool and super fun, but there’s a slight chance it could blow up and everybody dies. Haha!”
Musk later shared his thoughts on the impression on X: “They are so mad that [Donald Trump] won. In a separate post, he directly responded to Carvey’s impression: “Dana Carvey just sounds like Dana Carvey.”
